Description
This is Indira, the first of many brand new characters I'll be posting.
She's from Indonesia, an area often overlooked in fiction when it comes to characters, especially in Video Games, Western Comics, Manga and Anime. Her outfit is heavily based off traditional Indonesian garb, namely the crown on her head, with a few additions. The swords in her hands are my version of the famous Kris, the wavy-bladed short swords used throughout Southeast Asia.
Indira will make an appearance in my DFC fighter Hyaku Seiken: R1 as a Mid-Boss for select characters.
EDIT: I gave her a little makeover. I'm very pleased with this and I hope you enjoy it too!

Short Bio: Indira is the firstborn of six children—three girls and three boys—born to an Indonesian hotel heir and a novelist mother who immigrated to the islands from India. Because her father ran a successful resort in her native Bali, Indira literally grew up with the Hospitality business and all its aspects, domestic and personal. She honed her domestic skills helping her mother care for her brothers and sisters, which, of course, required learning to cook and clean. She honed her personal skills taking several etiquette classes, which were easily available thanks to the family’s high status in the community. By the time she was 18; Indira was working as a receptionist in her father’s resort and would continue to do so for five years.
However, just as Indira was to be promoted, Uchuu Guntai Salvaje’s forces invaded Earth in 2012. Like the rest of the world, Indonesia was hit hard and her family’s resort was damaged, putting Indira out of work. However, rather than stew in her anger, Indira decided to join the then-new Toku Asia and help prevent another attack on her beloved Indonesia. While there, the hospitality skills she learned from working her father’s resort made her popular around the base and with questioning suspects and comforting victims. It didn’t long for Indira to climb the ladder of Toku Asia and eventually become a Captain. Now, with her partner, Singaporean Huang Niu, she enjoys popularity and a reputation as one of the “Gatekeepers of Asia”, the continent’s first line of defense against threats. She is a prized officer by Toku Asia Head Captain Cao Mengde .
As a woman, Indira is a true lady; dignified, patient, kind graceful and articulate. Not surprisingly, she’s also a nurturing, big-sister type who likes giving advice and helping out younger Officers, much like she did for her siblings growing up. Her advice is actually well-received as she is looked up to by both male and female Toku Asia Officers for her beauty and grace; women want to be her and men want to be her man. In fact, Indira rivals Toku Asia’s Lieutenant, Cao Lianhua, in popularity and beauty. It’s no wonder, then, that her name is Hindi for “beauty”, a nod to her mother’s Indian heritage. Something else Indira inherited from her mother is Hinduism. Like her, Indira is a devout Hindu who communes with her gods daily. She favors Sarasvarti, the Goddess of Wisdom, and the source of her name as “Indira” is one of the goddesses’ nicknames. But Indira hasn’t ignored her Indonesian heritage, far from it. Since part of the Hospitality business is knowing your area, Indira was eager to learn all she could about her native Bali and the culture. Nowadays one of her favorite hobbies is participating in the many native dances, particularly the famous Barong Dance.
A lot of people assume that Indira is in an intimate relationship with her partner, Niu, due to their closeness. But their relationship is more like brother and sister. The closest person to Indira, however, isn’t a member of Toku Asia; it’s none other than the British Seijyukenshi Guinevere Long . Indira first met Guinevere when they were children, Indira a good deal older, during a Long Family vacation to Bali. David, Guinevere’s businessman father, struck up a friendship with Indira’s father and, through them, their eldest daughters met. Indira’s gentle personality and sisterly ways easily endears her to Guinevere and the two become closer with each visit until they become like sisters. It’s been a while since Indira and Guinevere have met face-to-face due to Guinevere’s college career but the women keep correspondence via e-mail. One of the things the two love to talk about is comparing their favorite sports, Badminton for Indira and Tennis for Guinevere, and debating which is superior.
In battle, Indira utilizes the Pencak Silat she learned from her father starting in childhood. Silat is Indonesia’s native martial art and, as an avid student of her local heritage, it’s no wonder that Indira is not only skilled but deadly practitioner. Part of her Silat repertoire is the use of Kris, a short sword famous throughout Southeast Asia and infamous for its wavy blade.
NOTE: HeroMachine was merely the vehicle for my character's creation. All characters of Hyaku Seiken/Shinobi no Michi/Celestial Blade/Galaxy Clash, etc. belong to me.
