Description Not much to say about this, other than the fact that it took me a while to actually create and submit it because there were so many ways I could have post-processed it... I had a bit of difficulty wondering whether I should flip it, rotate, etc. I do it all the time with all of my photos and... yeah.

This one was more 'difficult' than the other photos in my gallery... With those, I felt it connect immediately, but this one was still remaining elusive. In the end, I got my sister to give her opinion, and we both decided on this version.

I apologise that the framing couldn't be better... and that it's not as sharp/focused, but I think it's ok, considering it was completely dark outside the glass, the subject matter was moving and all the other things that impacted as well.

i love jelly fishes! sometimes i stand hours (or what feels like a time like this) in front of their aquarium trying to capture a good picture.
they remind me of moons and pudding.

i like the conceptual feeling of this. you can guess it's a jellyfisch but still, you can look at this as completely abstract. i like the lines in the backgroung. the colour adds a very harmonic feeling to it. kind of a pitty though that the jellyfisch is not that sharp, but it might have been your intent to do so

Zazza0110 [2010-11-08 03:22:16 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it is a bit blurry but jelly fish are soft naturally so it kinda turns the whole shot into a more abstract creation. The colours are nice, they all go together nicely. Nice shot.

TheMobileProject [2010-11-07 12:17:07 +0000 UTC]

Oh I like this piece. It has a great movement to it overall, the way that it's a little blurry, and how the bended lines points towards the bottom right corner. It actually looks like it's taken with a film camera rather then a photo camera. I really like it (=

Btw what is the obsession with photographers and sharp images? I think photographers are the artists with the most perfectionist issues. In music, even though a track isn't that well produced, it can still go on to be a huge hit, because the arrangement and quality of the song shines trough. But when it comes to photographing, a shot that is blurry or a little out of focus, gets shot down immediately, despite it having a great composition and great colors. I just don't get it really

3wyl In reply to TheMobileProject [2010-11-08 21:57:42 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much!

Well... the clearer it is, the better, I suppose... Not clear as in harsh or sharp, but clear as in... professionalism? Have you ever seen those photos taken with a professional camera and just.. seen the difference? It's quite a big one. =/

I guess so. o.O

Maybe there are just more stricter regulations/guidelines/rules when it comes to photography. Some are more acceptable and some just aren't. =/

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheMobileProject In reply to 3wyl [2010-11-09 12:18:24 +0000 UTC]

I disagree. There might be a certain box of rules when it comes to photographing for things that need reading, such as a news paper. But when it comes to art, there are no rules, only different personalities. Art is a personal thing, but never something that can be debated as a quality issue. Personally I feel that most of your pictures stands as pieces of art, so it is a little bit of a shame that you are so harsh on it. Though, I am no different when it comes to my own music (= But maybe I just see photographing differently because it's not my primary art-form. It still makes me feel sorry though, because it limits the freedom of photographing to where it has to look so perfect, or ells it gets rejected. You see it a lot in some groups as well, art getting rejected because the focus isn't right, when it really doesn't matter to the overall impression. It's a shame really.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to TheMobileProject [2010-11-09 20:47:41 +0000 UTC]

Art is a personal thing, but I think there are rules... perhaps it's not spoken rules, but rules nonetheless.

dA is a place that can bring about that harshness even more... I mean, most times, you think your pieces are awesome and then you receive absolutely no feedback whatsoever, leading you to believe whether it really is that awesome or not.

Indeed. I agree with you there. =/

I try not to accommodate to the masses as much, but... these things matter to me.

cality [2010-11-06 20:05:17 +0000 UTC]

It is a pity that it's a little bit blurry, but I think it does actually give it a sort of dreamy feel. The jellyfish looks like it's floating along peacefully.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to cality [2010-11-06 20:56:58 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps it's more a personal preference than anything?

It really bothered me that it wasn't focused... or as focused, rather. Looking at it again, I think it's beginning to grow on me, but... yeah.

Thanks for the comment.

Kamal-Q [2010-11-06 12:54:07 +0000 UTC]

I actually like the composition - looks a bit like a jellyfish inside of a jellyfish - the way the lines on the outside seem to encircle the jellyfish in the center.

Having the fish facing downward (and upside down - doesn't that mean they're dead?) with the darkness in the bottom right corner - gives the pic a bit of an ominous look (I think the blur may add to it) and the dark blue/purple tones give it a bit of sadness. Looks like Minor 7th chord to me

I did like the last one better - but this one turned out decent too

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to Kamal-Q [2010-11-06 20:55:29 +0000 UTC]

O.o

I suppose so... now that you've mentioned it.

Hmm... To be honest, I think they were swimming in all sorts of ways and stuff. o.O

I find that intriguing, how it "Looks" like it.

I felt the other was a bit too... post-processed? They both have their advantages and disadvantages. I'll try and make the last one (or so) the best one...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kamal-Q In reply to 3wyl [2010-11-07 11:50:38 +0000 UTC]

At first I thought that it looked a bit like a diminished chord but those are more dissonant right ? and it had too many colors to be a regular minor chord - so it had to be a minor 7th I think I'm trying to link sounds to colors in my mind

The last one had a more ghostly feeling - this one seems to have a lot more motion/direction.

oooOOooO one more - look forward to it

At first glance, I thought it was a droplet of water sorta I like the way you captured the jellyfish (it is a jellyfish, right?). It is kinda fun seeing it swimming downward instead up.
