Description Taken in Guizhou, China.

The butterfly landed on a ledge, so I took a quick shot. I don't know what kind of butterfly this is, but it reminds me of a tiger (colours) and a leopard (spots).

Animals!! Wonderful shot! I'm surprised the butterfly didn't fly away at the sight of you or the sound of shutters clicking. The blur on the wings have an amazing contrast on the animal. I almost mistaken it as one wing, though now looking closer, I believe there are two. again, wonderful shot!

We were quite close, I admit. It did shortly fly away after, but it stayed there for a while too.

Yes, there are two. The blurring of the wings was quite incidental, but turned out well indeed!

This is a very detailed little butterfly.
Any idea what species it is

I have no idea what the species is. As you said, the butterfly is very detailed, and quite unique in its own way. This was taken in China, so perhaps they are only found there.

Why do they call them butterflies if they don't taste like butter?

It does look like it's tiger-colored and leopard-spotted. I like the effect you got with the second wing blurring out the one focused on. I also like how you've got the colors - the rust/wood against the black/blue background mirrors the wings. Perhaps its a butterfly on spot on a wing of another (massive) butterfly. Nicely done

...you've tasted butterflies?

That would be pretty intense if it was. Maybe I captured something to do with the way the world is formed! Like...the Matrix, but not.

You captured the inception butterfly
Butterflyception has too many syllables...
Butterception? That sounds more like a cake
Flyception? No, that's more like what happens to men when they have to but their fly gets stuck...

I've Β never seen a butterfly like that before. It's beautiful! I like what you've done with the focus, so the further-back wing is the one that's sharp. It creates an interesting feeling of depth.

Regarding the focusing, I think it was mostly luck/out of hand, like.

I do agree with you! Thank you for the comment!

Got me curious as to what sort of butterfly it is. Given its markings, I'm wondering if it's some sort of fritillary.
