Totally awesome capture! Did you guess that the lightning would strike somewhere around there? The chances of getting a lightning strike in that particular angle and during just 5 seconds of exposure isnt exactly great
Unless you had some mother of a storm there..

Those were some pretty huge storms that crossed the whole country werent they?
I tried getting some shots from inside too but i was totally unsuccesful - clearly you werent though.

Yep, I love thunderstorms! They're difficult to shoot, and they rarely come along at night.. I was lucky to get this shot. Thanks for the comments

Yeah all my exposures are 5-6 seconds because i live in the city, so i'm stuck with it. Its hard to get out of the city to take pictures because you don't know where or when to go so it's a butt! Go through so many pictures when doing 5 sec exposures. Good Job though!!!

And I really like pictures of lighting. ^_^ Awesome. I sat outside last night in the rain watching a thunderstorm. Wasn't the smartest thing in the world, but it was pretty cool.
