Description I was actually trying to get fireworks that weren't too far away, but I got this instead.

I'm not complaining.

Love how the lightning seems to be going around the bush just so you could get it all!

Stunning shot! Love the colors, and the whole photo carries a very intense feel. Nature at its most powerful
In your forum post, you mentioned that other photos seem to have a special something more to them that you can't figure out. One thing this might be, is the Thirds Rule. especially in landscape shots such as this one, this rule can really bring out the most in pictures. For instance in this picture, positioning the tree and land-line in the bottom third rather than the middle.

Yeah, I generally try to follow the rule of thirds, and I noticed that on this one. I think the main thing was distinguishing what was the ground and what was the plastic around my viewfinder. I'll keep that in mind though and try to apply it more. Thanks.

I really like accidental shots where the composition turns out interesting- the way the lightening frames the tree and the balance of light and dark.

good job

I know what you mean. I love the fact that this was accidental. I was actually trying for fireworks, so this did come out a tad over-exposed-ish than I would have liked (and I'll admit I messed with the levels a bit in Photoshop), but I love the shot so much I can't really complain.

Thanks.
