Description Β Sorry not sorry.

Found this lying around for some time (along with a whole lot more unfinished artwork (and draft (and half-coloured ones too (the list goes on)))))
So just decided to polish it a bit and basically save it from abandonment. Not quite sure about the style.

Tools Used: Water colours; Copic markers; Colour pencils; Photoshop CC

Hi! I'm here from ProjectComment 's Comment Tag!
My tag word was "dark", and Pitch Black is the perfect representation of dark!! (you tagged it as "dunno", lol)
First off I'll say that, while I have seen the "Rise of the Guardians" movie, I have not read the books, so my mental immage of Pitch could be different from yours. I see you went with the movie's style.
I love his pose! It is very domeneering, and I really, really like how his cloak is dripping from the steps like Espresso
Also, is that the moon dripping down behind him? What happened to the Man in the Moon? (Do I want to know?)
The tendrils coming off him (and his appearance in general) reminds me of the Slenderman.
I think this style is awesome! The colours are very befitting (black and sickly yellow), and I like how you left the background white too, with just a hint of grey for depth.
I have to say though, my favourite part of this is his expression: he looks so cool and snarky!
To make this even better, I would have shown some of his night-mares behind him, or maybe have a crow-nightmare perched on his forearm.
With Photoshop, maybe you could make the whole thind darker, and let his eyes and white skin shine out of the darkness too.
That is basically everything I can think of to make this drawing better. It's already super good!
TAG! End of tag line!

Thanks so much for the comment! Sorry for the late reply though.

I thought no one'd notice the hash tagsΒ  Β I usually throw a bunch a words there, but that time my head was a little empty so when I (lamely) tagged "sand", I just... "dunno".
Do you know when you try to tag "pitchblack" it immediately give you the option "pitchblackexpresso"? That's where I got the idea haha.

The moon isn't dripping, though. It was that sand-made globe in Pitch's underground hollow. It's in the movie.

Ah, the nightmare horses. Those are difficult, seeing that I've never really drawn any horses before. But I'll try next time. Crows are cool too, I remember I did once here:Β zthesoi.deviantart.com/art/Pit…

Anyway, thanks again for the comment! Love it!

Hi! I'm from 's Tagline game. My tag word was "projection", so I chose this fanart because of the black matter that Pitch Black uses as a weapon.

I really love how you've drawn him: he doesn't look eerie, not too happy. The fact that he stands on a black puddle fits very well, even better than the original powder-like matter seen in the film. The body turned out well: I like the torso, his evil right eye and the claw-ish left hand; I also adore the abstract globe floating behind him.
I only think the background is quite simple: maybe a throne or something like the lair seen in the original film would have been better; maybe I would have also added some of his dark horses. I also noticed some little patches of watercolor exceeding the lineart, but that's no big deal for me

Once again, great job!
Now, you have to go to 's gallery, with the tag word "Fanart". Have fun!

Thank you for your critique
I thought about the background too. At that time I didn't know what to put in it.
The dark horses idea sounds good!

Hi, I am from and my tag word was "fluid", so this picture was a rather obvious choice. Not only is it recent, it also fits the description of fluidity perfectly not only motive-wise, but also in the mediums you used.
This is really an awesome piece of art and you achieved a lot with your style, your medium and the choice of colors.

Composition: You focus only on the character in the center of the picture and add little decorum in the background, except when it helps highlighting your figure and it works. The image is neatly arranged and has exactly the amount of content it needs to fill the paper. Also the slight asymmetry with a little more going on on the left hand side makes it interesting as well as the moon-like structure in the background.

Anatomy: The anatomy is stylized in a manga/Slender man-kind of style but it is obvious that you learned to do the basics before doing abstractions. The pose is dynamic, the face works in its meanness and you tried yourself on a difficult hand perspective and succeeded. The only thing is that maybe his neck is bit too thick for the slender style you chose. Otherwise it looks alright for me.

Colors: It does not feel as if there is missing something although you have only a few colors in the picture. They are well chosen and enough for good contrasts. Also you worked very cleanly, the outlines are clean as is the coloring and the structure of the paper gives a nice texture when needed. You could have added a few more highlights in the hair and the face but apart from that everything looks well done and worked.

Overall: I cannot give you much advice for improvement because you already produce high quality art. This piece is interesting, well executed and well designed. Great job and keep up the good work.

Thank you very much for the critique!

Honestly, I was worried whether the composition was a bit too simple, and struggled with myself for some while before submitting the work- because I thought there were too few things for the background. I'm glad it all comes out fine!
I don't remember what I was thinking when I first drew this piece though haha, when I brought it up again it was already coloured and almost finished. I just applied some more shading and did colour adjustment through Photoshop.

Thank you again! And Happy New Year by the way!

You are very welcome. I know the feeling of insecurity quite well myself so I am glad that I could sort a few things out for you. I wish you a belated happy new year myself. Good luck with you art also in the future, it is very promising.
