It looks great! I don't know what your teacher was thinking, you get a huge feeling of being overwhelmed and surrounded by a towering factory.. i personally love it.
You did a really good job on this. I need to learn how to do this kind of art with water color paint haha.
i dont know if you're still in the class by now but art teachers can either be very supportive or total downers xD so dont get too discouraged by what they say

Well, if you wanted it to be that way, then wouldn't sterile be the feeling you wanted, so therefore you did draw this with feeling even though the feeling was the lack of it?
I don't really know what I'm saying anymore though. I like this piece a lot though. Its cool.

Hehe, an interesting statement.
I mean sterile in the sense of putting stuff that resembles architectural pre-visualization in a gallery setting... I think.
I guess I don't know what I'm saying anymore, either!

Yeah, haha. I'm glad he kept bugging me though. It took a lot to get me over my fear of putting a bunch of color on at once.

incredible. all art teachers are too critical, it's annoying when its obvious you have talent.

Well, to be honest I'd rather them be critical, I guess.
I think too often people think that all it takes is "talent" to be truly good at what one does, but miss the idea that it also takes judgement-- (knowing when and where to apply specific looks and techniques) to make stuff effectively.
I'm not saying I think this is your view, just saying that I know I still have a lot to learn, especially when it comes to the "judgement" side of things, and actually, I don't think most of my teachers are critical enough!

Interesting... how does it remind you of Brazil, exactly? Like, does it look like an industrial plant that you associate with the country?

Not the country, the movie Brazil by Terry Gilliam. It's setting is similar to this painting.

It's very good, one of the all-time best sci-fis according to critics. It's not a special effects extravaganza or anything, it's genius comes from it's satire.
