My reimagining of Ma-Ti from Captain Planet whose real name here is Matheus Alvarez and Mati is his nickname.

Mati hails from the slums of Rio De Janero where he takes care of his 5 siblings and takes odd jobs here and there to provide for his family. Mati's capacity for compassion and his selflessness has earned him the respect of the people around him. But unfortunately, people take advantage of him quite often and the worst time came when he unknowingly became a smuggler and lost the package he was meant to deliver. What's worse is that package belonged to crime boss Hector Vasquez and he wasn't happy that his delivery was lost. Hector kidnapped Mati's siblings and held them til he worked off his debt. Mati's main mission was to go to the Arctic to retrieve an object of high importance. He would do anything to get his siblings back even if it meant risking his life for an object, that he didn't know at the time, would change his life forever.

With his Heart Ring, Mati is able to connect with all living creatures, whether it's through their minds or their hearts. With animals, it gives Mati a certain level of control of their minds and with humans, Mati can hear their thoughts through telepathy and connect with them through spiritual empathy. The ring also gives Mati the ability to bring out his own heart (astral projection) to find others when trapped or in need of assistance.

For his design, I wanted to go with something basic to reflect his somewhat poor upbringing so I gave him a typical look with whatever clothes he could find and the red bandage on his hand covers up a little going away present from Hector to show a little bit of what will happen if Mati fails him.
