Flesh in Twilight
8 x 10 polaroid transfer on watercolor
2007
With my new move to Hong Kong comes many changes, most importantly the loss of my darkroom and studio.
My new work will reflect this change in many ways, most noticeable will be my next body of work on Wanchai, HK.
So stay tuned, this is just a transfer scan from my last few sessions in my old studio.
I didn't include this in my Ocean series, just seemed to have too much weight, as well as a very sexual and passionate undertone.
Things this delicate are worth the patience though, as some of you may know.
Thanks for looking, and for all the wishes on my marriage.

i do not know anything about technical photography...but i am attracted to the fact that i dont quite know what this is, and the warm color and softness make it so dreamy

Heh, it's not so much photography anymore as much as it is transferring a finished print onto watercolor paper. I think by changing the medium anything can look unfamiliar, and usually the association isn't as warm and fuzzy as the familiar.

It's powerful and suggestive in a way that's both subtle and at the same time loud and obvious. To me it's more the concept of sensuality, subject to objectivity.

My class is great, new teacher who is not only knowledgeable but also seems to really care, helps a lot. It feels very nice to use fiber paper now too! The paper you sent me is so much warmer than Ilford's multigrade.
