Description
Laz
The grinning lion gazed through his bangs at the red cub frolicking after a trio of bright colored butterflies from afar. Ah, the innocence of cubhood. Without turning his head he spoke lowly, "Reckon ya been bit by the flame's fangs too, eh love?"
Wyn
Eyes trailing the cub, watchful as her guardian rested beside her, the leopon startled only slightly at the low voice resonating from the lion, his words leaving shivers down her spine. Wyn grimaced, but her eyes never strayed from Nitzie and the little butterflies she played with. "The flames don't just bite, darling. They consume." She hummed thoughtfully. "You should know the sting of such fury just as much as I, right Lazarus?"
Laz
A cackle rose through the lion's throat, and his bangs parted in a way that a single eye peaked through. With it he gazed intently at her meeting her own beautiful orbs that looked like gems sparkling in a river. "That I do m'love, that I do..." His voice trailed off suggesting a somber, more solemn tone yet that grin still etched in his face. Ear to ear and jagged, slowly he rose to his feet. "It bites and claws, yet ye survive. Funny isn't it love? Flames that which stained themselves into our skin tis now what we call home."
Wyn
Wyn gave the lion a sympathetic smile, eyes never leaving the one that bore into her own. They still held her captive just like the first day she saw them, the colors reminiscent of ones she remembered in dreams long past. Mesmerizing and alluring, the leopon fought the heat rising to her cheeks and gave a wry smile to Lazarus in turn.
"Ironic indeed," Wyndigo huffed, disdain coloring her voice the smallest amount. "Though I see your point. Flames seem to have an odd way of those she deems worthy of the pain to bear her mark." She mumbled, rising and making her way to the pond in hopes the heat to her fur would leave. To be flustered at the old fool's rambling and his eyes was unbecoming of her.
Laz
"Mmmmmmhmm." The old lion hummed following his goddess to her pool. As much as she tried to hide it he saw her fluster. A playful expression crossed his features allowing the liquid surface to engulf him.
"Oi, survivors we are love." Ever so gently he reached out, his large paw brushing the marred side of her face. "And made us stronger it has, eh? Hehehehoa~"
Wyn
"Poetic as always." She whispered, the words robbing her air from her, her vision filled with the lion before her. Casting her eyes aside briefly, the refracting rays of sunshine made the irises nearly fluorescent in the pool, and Wyndigo felt a smile curl against her maw.
The waters had done nothing to quell the warmth to her cheeks, and instead the heat had spread across her entire being. Laz's paw on her cheek felt like sunshine, caressing, gentle and loving. Flames, so unlike the ones they had both suffered under, warm and inviting, lit the synapses of her mind, expanded her sense of self, cradled her fragile heart with the same tenderness the paw against her cheek held. The leopon could only gaze in wonderment a moment, her mind finally catching up from the vision before her.
"And survivors we'll be. The both of us." Wyn whispered, smiling to the lion, her own paw coming up to caress the larger one in a timid echo of his own.
