I've come to the conclusion that you need to go to thrift stores and such (no idea if you have something like junk markets, we do here) and find old winding clocks - they have the gears you need and most people there don't know of the existence of steampunk.. well at least here..

oh believe me, I've been looking! I've found parts of watches, and actually made a few necklaces (might post some pictures in a bit) but nothing providing gears. Never fear, however, I'll keep searching! Thanks for the advice.
