If I remember right, brass is a very bad thing to put through your skin... Some people are fine about it, but most people have at least a bad reaction.... Or maybe that's copper... Or both...

I believe it is nickle you are thinking of - I know a lot of people allergic to nickel, but I've very rarely heard brass. Whenever you buy "gold toned" findings at a store, they're brass, and I've seen minimal reactions to them
