Coincidentally, in the novel I'm writing, there are cultists who wear red (crimson, actually) clothes and bronze masks. They are mainly inspired by Poe's Masque of the Red Death and a dream I had, actually, but their masks are more like the faces of ancient Greek statues.

I really like the Masque of the Red Death, it was actually one of the first Poe works I read.
But in this case, the sole reason for the red robe is because somehow Unspeakable Vault of Doom and Munchkin made red the first colour I think about when picturing a cultist.
