Chapter 6
Murder, Death, Regret

A bird sings in the forest, it's sound get's carried with the wind. The wind blows for a long way and into the ear of a canine-feline hybrid, walking on a path. His ears twitched when he heard the song of the bird, he looks behind himself, the school of necromancers has left his view. He could still remember the note he left on the lap of his best friend, Celine Jerno, a somewhat shy vixen. "Zachorias, are you feeling all right?" A dark cloaked necromancer asked the hybrid. Zachorias stopped watching behind himself and returned his view into the direction he was walking at. He could feel the four necromancer's powers, they weren't normal necromancer, since each one seemed to be a professional in their area of necromancy.

"Yes, everything is ok, let's just keep on walking, I can't wait to see my parents." It was the truth, since he hadn't had any contact with his parent's for four years, and now he was coming to visit them. "I wonder what the ritual is, they haven't talked about it much, not at all actually." Zachorias thought for himself while one of the necromancers, a light blue vixen used her magic to freeze the river so that they could pass. No one said anything before evening when they all sat and ate before sleeping.

"What is this ritual that I'm supposed to be in? I think i deserve to know since we're close to my home." The only dragon in the group stopped eating and placed down his steak. "Very well, do you know what is special about you? Poena Custodia , it's one of the mythical armors that are rumoured to have unearthly magical powers. They are supposed to be found in family lines that are bound with strong magical energies, like you for example. Your great-great-great grandfather was married with propably the strongest sorceress of her time, and the magic has been hidden after she passed away. Until it revealed itself, a week ago, when you protected your friend and killed another student. Do you remember the hate and power you felt that time? It was the armor of pain, and it's power you seemed to aquire really fast. You killed the student slowly and in the most painful way a necromancer can learn, but after you fought with the Headmaster of your old school, the armor withdrew itself and you fell unconcious, until you were woken from your condition in the healers wing. Why we have taken you on this journey? We have received orders from the Dark Council to make you a new member, to do that we need to perform a ritual wich will grant you great powers from the armor that you have aquired." The dragon explained while Zachorias' mind seemed to develope questions faster than he got answers.

"But why do we need to visit my mother and father?" Zachorias asked while still wondering what their part was in the ritual. The dragon sighed and wondered how in earth he couldn't understand it. "This isn't a normal ritual! Weak rituals need only some blood or animal sacrifice. Stronger rituals on the other hand, require a little bit more valuable sacrifices, a furry's soul is the most usual requirement, luckily we don't need to sacrifice anyone in order to get what is needed for the ritual to be successful. We only need something small from them and trust me, they won't even miss it." The dragon explained in a care free tone while Zachorias' mind was set to ease by the fact that his parents were safe. "Well, that's a relief, if my parents are gonna be ok after the ritual. I'm gonna get some sleep, if we're gonna get up early to meet my parents."

Early the next morning, Zachorias woke up to the from the smell of roasted rabbit. He sat up while beginning to stretch his body while his eyes were getting used to the sunlight. No one said a word as the breakfast was eaten, nor when they walked the familiar road that Zachorias knew by the name, 'Old school road'. It was the same road Zachorias had protected his sister some years ago from that school bully. Zachorias walked up to the tree and began to feel if the tree had any received any permanent marks from the fight. "Zachorias! What are you doing? We need to find your parent's house and complete the ritual." One of the cloaked necromancers yelled while Zachorias could still feel the wounds on the tree, he hadn't felt bad when he had allmost killed the pedophile bear who had been harassing Zasha, nor did he feel bad about it now either. The bear got what he deserved.

Zachorias stood up and started to walk back to the road while the other necromancers stood there and waited. They walked some more and Zachorias could see some familiar buildings. His old school, the church, his old school buddie's houses and finally his home. Zachorias was overjoyed to see his home after so many years. He ran as fast as he could and he couldn't hold himself anymore and yelled for his parents that he was home.

"I hope we weren't like this when we were younger." The blue vixen said, mostly for herself. "Don't worry, we all know how fast he will change, after our little " The dragon said as he and the other necromancers began to walk. The vixen began smile and thought for herself. "Yes, no matter what he decides he won't be that kind of cheery, annoying, little kit." Some cold winds began to go around her as she walked towards the building where the parents were. "This will be SO much fun, for us."

Zachorias knocked on the door and opened it without waiting for a answer. He saw his father eating breakfast and his mother who had stopped cooking and stared at the door, staring at Zachorias. "Zach...Zach! You're home! Oh my little boy has grown up!" Ashley hugged her son tight and well before she begun to study him from his paws up to his ears to see how much he had grown and changed in the past years. Christopher stopped eating and joined his wife and Zachorias in the hugging. "Welcome home my boy! How has the school been? Are you happy with your choice?" Christopher said as he hugged Zachorias so hard that his back gave out a small cracking sound. "Ugh, dad, no need to squeeze me to death, we haven't seen eachother in years and I'd prefer if this wasn't the last time." Christopher stopped to hug Zachorias and instead began to ruffle his hair. "Aw come one. You're my son and you won't die from just a hug, now tell your father why you haven't had any kind of contact with your family. We have been worried about you."

Zachorias' tail seemed to twist around his right leg as he blushed a little bit. "I didn't want to bother you if it wasn't anything important." Christopher and Ashley looked at each other for a second, at the moment the other necromancers stepped inside. The little house was getting filled fast and there wasn't any much room to walk. "So why have you come here now then? Has something happened? Did you find a girl? Got kicked out of the school?" Zachorias was surprised that his mother had thought of these things, but then again, it is a mothers duty to worry about their children. "No mom, I didn't get kicked out of the school. The school is going fine and I have good grades, so you can just relax." Zachorias assured her mother while his father asked the draconic necromancer. "Excuse me, but what are you doing in my family's home? Our son has just come home and we would like to have some privacy." The dragon couldn't care less about the family reunion, but he had his mission to complete. "Christopher and Ashley Furosa?" The dragon asked while looking straight into Christopher's eyes, the dragon couldn't believe that from the parents of a weak home wife and a regular farmer, their son was to be one of the dark council. "Yes, that is our home. What do you want?" Christopher said while trying to protect Ashley incase the necromancers would try anything. The dragon chuckled for himself and said. "Good, then you don't mind to help us to make your son a strong member in one of our most important and strongest groups."

Christopher was speechless. He knew his son was strong willed and sometimes even ambitious. But this? He hadn't even dreamed of this in his wildest dreams. "My son? My son is going to be a powerful magician? Sure, I'll help him, as long as his dream is fullfilled." Christopher said while tears began to run from his eyes. It was every fathers dream to be part of something important for their children, and his dream was about to come true. "Good, then I guess you won't be needing this anymore!" The dragon yelled while he sliced the canine's neck wide open. Zachorias' brain shut itself down as he saw his father's body fall on the floor, lifeless and blood covered. "Dad. Father! NO!" Zachorias yelled while he jumped over one of the necromancers and caught his father when he had allmost hit the ground. "Dad! Dad, come on! Say something!" Zachorias said while he tried to sense if there was any life left in him. "Foolish little child, he isn't going to wake up, not even if a healer would try and close his wounds. But really, you jumped away from your mother? Leaving her unprotected while your tried to catch your father's body? Now that is just pathetic and stupid. Now let us see if you have enough guts to complete the ritual." The dragon said while he slit Ashleys chest open with his claws. Zachorias could feel Ashleys life force leaving from her body, the same way it happened to his father. "No, no! NO! Why? Why are you doing this? Mom. Dad. They were good people! And you...You've killed them! I'm not. Not. Not gonna forgive any of you!" Zachorias yelled while his blood began to boil. He wanted to have revenge. They had to suffer. They deserved it. His neck fur began to stand out, his voice became dark and he began growl.

None of the necromancers would leave this place alive. "No one!" Zachorias growled while he summoned a frozen dagger in his left paw and stabbed the summoning expert and cut some deep wounds throught the dragon's armored hide. The dragon had fast reflexes and managed to jump out of reach, but the other summoner wasn't as lucky as he was. Zachorias had summoned more ice into his dagger and it looked more like a spike ball with a handle, than a dagger. The spikes grew longer and sharper and the necromancer couldn't do anything to stop the pain. Finally a few of the spikes punctured his fur and the blood had begun to flow, his body fell lifeless on the floor, the spikes had punctured not only his fur, but most of his internal organs too. "You! Bitch! You're next!" Zachorias said while he pointed his paw at the vixen who had laughed while his parent's were murdered. "Pathetic little brat! You don't know who or what you're going up against! I'll show you the true meaning of the word pain." The vixen said while she revealed her paws from under the robe's sleeves. The black runes begun to glow as Zachorias could feel a cold breeze go by him. Ice pilars had begun to form while the vixen just seemed to get warmed up. "Feel the power of the freezing hell! Wich is excactly where you will go!" She began to call forth ice javelins while Zachorias stood there and just glared at her. "That's it? You're going to kill me with one of the oldest trick in the books? Hell no." Zachorias thought for himself as he had finished his spell. Out of nowhere there appeared huge block of ice that transformed into spikes of ice, trapping the vixen in a sphere. "What? Where did these come from? No! Don't do this! You can't!" The vixen screamed as the spikes stabbed her from every direction at the same time. The floor was filled with blood and pieces of flesh but Zachorias wasn't satisfied. He let out a growl wich made the whole building to be filled by razor sharp pilars of bones and ice. When his growl settled down, the only one who had managed to survive was the one who was responsible for all this. The dragon.

Alltough he had been severly cut, he still managed to stand up and protected himself by a shield of bones. He had been strong enough to put up the shield even if he had been seriously injured, but his strenght was allmost gone and he fell on his knees. His shield shattered while Zachorias began to walk to the dragon. His heart screamed for revenge. "You laughed at them, you killed them, you didn't care even if you broke someone's heart. Well, now you're the one who is going to get killed, I'm going to shred your soul, and I'll make you wish that you had never been born!" Zachorias yelled while he thrusted his elbow in the dragon's wound. The necromancer didn't yell but you could see the pain and hate in his eyes. "Aww. Is the little dragon finally starting to grow some hate? Well good! Now you know how you made me feel when you killed my parents. But you're the one who is pathetic now!" Zachorias yelled while he kicked the dragon in the head.

Everything that the dragon had in his pockets got thrown on the floor as Zachorias continued to kick the dragon who had murdered his parents in cold blood. Suddenly the dragon blocked on Zachorias' kicks and countered with a magic bolt strong enough to throw him at the wall. The half dead necromancer stood up, shaking and every bone hurting. "Why did I do this? Because I was ordered to! In order to get in the dark council you must absorb your parent's souls! That is why we came here! Of course I must admit, it was fun to see how you went from pathetic little wimp to a berserker. And all of it just because of you, Zach, it's good to see a fellow 'Protecter' who is not weak. But now I must leave and report to the rest of the council. Fare well, Zach!" The dragon laughed while he began to become transparent and finally dissappearing infront of Zachorias' eyes. He still couldn't believe what the dragon had said. "It's. It's all my fault? No! No, I never wanted any of this to happen! This is not what I wanted! I didn't do this!" Zachorias yelled while he fell down on his knees, whimpering and crying. His parents were gone. Celine wouldn't propably ever want to see him again after he left that note. Zasha, she would hate him too and try and kill him for what he had done. He saw his parent's souls floating above their dead bodies. Zachorias couldn't do anything else than to watch and cry as their souls began to float away, never to be freed from this world and never be let into the heaven.

Then Zachorias saw a crystal glowing on the floor. It was one of the things the dragon had dropped. It was a soul stone. Zachorias thought that this was the least he could do, to safe keep their souls until their bodies would be buried and their after lives made peaceful. He began to chant while he pointed the crystal at the souls. They were sucked in the crystal and it began to glow blue, meaning that they were ok but a little bit scared. Zachorias held the crystal tight against his chest while the tears continued to flow. Finally he managed to get up and he began to carry his parent's dead bodies outside in the garden. The garden wich they had both worked so hard to make it so beautyful, it was only fair if they would get their final rest here.

The sun was setting as Zachorias placed the grave marker on the grave. A few small tears flowed out from his eyes, he hadn't meant this to happen. He wanted his parents to be happy and proud for him. But he had no choice, this would have propably been the best for Zasha too. To make it seem as thieves had broken into the house and killed Christopher and Ashley. Then getting into a fight and killing eachother while sharing the loot. Zachorias threw some coins around the bloody bodies and then checked if the house had anything he could take so it would look like thieves. His father's amulet, some food and water, coins, some clothes and his ancestor's sword, wich his parents had given him as a present when he had chosen to become a necromancer. But even though he had wanted to become a necromancer then, he regretted and hated himself for doing so. Because of that coice, his parents had died.

He didn't want anything to do with the necromancers anymore, ever! "I'm not gonna use these dark powers anymore, ever! I'm gonna find something that can take these dark powers away from me, and I'll replace them with good powers. I must find a white magicians school, or atleast a monastery. Anything that will help me." Zachorias thought for himself as he walked away from his parent's house, the house where he and his sister had been born, their whole childhood was there. His and  Zasha's parents had been there in their sorrows and joys. Yet they were erased from the living in the matter of seconds. The sun began to cast it's flame like light into the grave markers.

"Resting place of Christopher and Ashley Furosa, parents who shall allways be missed and never to be forgotten."
