It can be quite difficult and stressful, how much probably depends on what kinds of games you want to work on. What kind of work are you interested in? Game art, game programming, and game design are all separate fields, although level design can sometimes involve both art and design.

I thought so. fighting shooting and sword.(halo, soul caliber) I want to do the character design weapons vehicles like your self but I have no experience at all. and story line stuff like that. sorry it took me so long to answer

Ah, good catch! Just recently finished playing the newest MGS so it was probably fresh in my subconscious.

Man, I sucked at MGS4. I didn't snap a single neck! Mostly just threw grenades and shit. Though there was that one point that I made an infinite loop of guards finding a pile of dead bodies, stopping to look, and getting silencer-shot in the face. That was cool.

Still haven't played MGS4 yet. It any good? Enjoyed Snake Eater, but 90% of the game was horribly boring dialogue.

Some people love it to death, others -- well, let's say it's a very indulgent game for Kojima. It's very ambitious, has a lot of variety, and looks GREAT, but I didn't have too much "fun" playing it. The moments that were supposed to be emotional almost always had me rolling my eyes or heckling the dialogue Mystery Science Theater style. It's worth a rental at the bare minimum if you have a PS3, but it's not worth getting a PS3 for if you aren't a die-hard fan.

Thanks for the input. I'll keep that in mind when I'm deciding on which system to get, as MSG4 would have been one of the choosing factors. If I've ever got the cash. To be fair though, I can't honestly say I've ever played a videogame with good dialogue.

I'm actually studying to become a concept artist now much to the prodding of my teachers and some mentors.
Concept jobs are hard to get though, so I'm freaking out.

Doing well! Busy, busy, busy, but I'm enjoying the work more than ever I think. I wish our game had been announced yet so I could tell you about it, ah well... it'll happen soon enough.

Yeah, competition in the concept field is pretty tough these days. There's always freelancing or outsourcing studios if you can't land a studio gig right out of college, though. If you do a lot of environments and props then that'll probably help your chances a lot too, since people tend to overload their portfolios with characters. From what I can tell, most games need a good deal more environment concept art done than character concept art. I know ours certainly does!

Yeah, definitely thinking about freelancing, and I'm trying to get some internships with the local companies (lucky for me SOE and SCE are a 15 minute drive from my house)
