Pronounced with a long 'O' at the start. As in 'foam' Not like the word woo.

Amaterasu Omikami! I've been playing Okami for the PS2 lately, (Just bought it used! I'm so happy!) and I've wanted to do this for a while.
Okami is written as a genderless being in the game. Strangers use the pronoun "He" for you a lot, as does Issun. But the celestial brush creatures refer to you as the Mother of them all.

In Shinto lore, Amaterasu is definately a goddess.
So I wanted to draw her in the game style.
Heh heh. I can imagine Issun's reaction to find out 'Ammy' is such a babe! <3

I listed it as a drawing not a painting because the line art was not painted.
It's done in ink and watercolors and I tried to get her pose similar to the one on the cover of the PS2 version of the game, only in human form and without the snarl, since the people in the game don't got no mouths!

She was going to be wielding one of her divine swords, but I decided Ammy needed her celestial brush also. Then I dropped the sword entirely. Which works out ok since there's no good reference to the swords on the little instruction booklet.

Man, if I could animate, her swirlies would totally be going.
