Description 166 million years ago, in what is now Madagascar, the crocodylomorph Steneosaurus baroni swims upwards towards the surface to take a valuable gulp of air. These reptiles are adapted for life in the open ocean, but they are still reptiles, and they need to use their lungs to breath. However, the Steneosaurus can hold its breath for over an hour, which makes them perfect swimmers.
