Woo, the first drawing of the year! This is a birthday present for my friend Dulcie I included her birth flower (paperwhite narcissus as her birthday was in december) and also a rose cos I thought it would accentuate the softness of her face

I'm REALLY pissed off at my scanner right now, you have no idea. It's totally crapped all over this. It dullled highlights, brightened imaginary highlights (her chest is the same shade as under her chin yet it came out EXTREMELY bright), missed out details and just overall made it look shite.

Sorry, but it's so aggravating! I'm gonna try to get a photo of it asap. Also some close ups as well.

Anyway, back to the actual drawing. I tried out some new stuff I used graphite powder which was fun, but very messy; I also added light spots to add a dreamier effect; I improvised a great deal of this picture which is a first for me in a portrait, especially the hair; and I decided to blend her bust into the background to draw all attention to her lovely face
