This is downright beautiful. Fully how I see Satyrs and Nymphs.
This, for me, scores a 10 out of 10 for perfect use of colors, flawless anatomy, and a beautiful setting which goes in a circle (the eye is guided through the painting, from the satyr's face to the horn, to the nymph's vace.. to the beautiful anatomy of the saytr's hoof, to the back and hair of the nymph in the front, and back to the satyr).
Hats off for this piece.
A 10-, since it's always satyrs and nymphs together. So half a li'll point off for originality, but all in all, DEEP RESPECT for this piece.

hi id like to say i love this so much, its reminiscent of the mythological paintings of old, and im now totally inspired. i want to create a satyr painting too. and i have a lover whos perfect for the sitting, trouble is he doesnt want to participate at all, i need photos of him as im uselfess from imagination.
what do you suggest? and how did you get youre reference?
and hw did you paint the picture, what paints did you use etc, please
if i dont get started on something when the inspiration calls i lose interest and never get back to it
any help appreciated

My oh my. He's prettier than the classic satyrs, that's for sure. Not that I'm complaining! Those structures and patterns on his skin are lovely, and so of course are the matching skins of his two lady friends. The light and color of the hair of the nymph(?) up front are just lovely, and I like that hint of scales on her arms and that rather arrogant look on the satyr.

Inspired only...
In your painting, the Satyr is more (sexually, perhaps : the horn'symbol in his hand) domineering than the satyr of Bouguereau played up by the nymphs... and is very beautiful, I must admit.

Does anyone else think horns of that shape are seriously maladaptive to a humanoid body? He'd stab himself in the shoulders every time he tried to look up.
That aside, this is a beautiful painting. I especially like the subtle fish scales on the red-haired nymph's skin.

Well I had to fav both versions--cannot choose which one I prefer. The tenebrism in this one appeals to me. But I love the characterization of the satyr in the newer one, especially the eyes.

I really like how this kind of looks like some of those older paintings by like Titian and those classic painters. Love it!
