Idea is good, except it kinda ruins deviantART layout by making it look just like Facebook, having friends list in bottom right corner. But nonetheless, it's a good idea.

there are many many other website which have a very similar chat client to the facebook one
the point is not to imitate facebook ,deviant art will still very different from fb even if chat is implemented
they can eventually keep the friends list on the top,tho I would prefer to have it on the bottom than to care if the layout is a kinda fb inspired (how would be the humanity if only persons who thought about good ideas were permitted to use them

Hmm, just a trivial thing: You know, with Opera web browser, you can have something similar to your idea, except it works only on existing chatrooms, and not private user-to-user.
In Opera, pressing on F4 button results in panels being opened. And best thing of all is that you can drag webpages into that panels, so you can see them, no matter in which tab you are. So you drag tab with chat into panels and you can monitor the tab, no matter which tab you are currently viewing. There are two downsides, however. Chat window requires quite a lot of width, and that's not good. But chat is working as in normal tab like this. However, if you go to View (above panel) and select: small screen, chat will not be displayed properly (because chat was not made for this) but it will take less space (and you'll see more of chat history). That means you will have to manually scroll up and down the chat. All the features as emotes, plz accounts, tabbing and so forth will work, however, even if layout is totally f***ed up. /but you can still follow the chat without problems).
One more downside of chat on Opera, comparing to Chrome and Firefox: No SuperdAmn extension. (But I don+'t use it much anyway)

We need to focus on the already very useful mediums for chatting we currently have that get far too little attention from both the community and deviousTech. You can just open another tab with dAmn, and with SuperdAmn you can see when somebody tries to message you in its title.

with an integrated chat client you don't have to switch between the chat window and the other ,you don't have to create a chatroom every time you want to speak with a friend ,you can speak with more than one person,without switching between windows ,got it ?

I see how it can be useful, but dAmn can do a lot more than that and it really doesn't get enough attention from anybody when it's so useful. I've been on dAmn for years and I'm part of a chatroom that's dedicated to making chatroom bots for it, so I sort of care.
