A MelloxNear Fanfic

“Mello, can I hold your hand?” Near asked. They were done with trick-or-treating for the night and were lying in bed. “Why?” The blonde mumbled rubbing his face. “I’m scared” Near whimpered. “Of what? Nothings going to get you” Mello opened his eyes to look at the silver-haired boy. “They say the demons come out on Halloween, and they’re free to wreak havoc” Near was usually so reserved with his emotions, he seemed apathetic all the time. It was a bit shocking to see him whimpering in fear. Mello sighed and lifted his arm up. Near crawled into his arms and cuddled into his chest.

“Don’t get too comfortable, this won’t happen every time your scared” Mello said. Near didn’t care, this could suffice him for the rest of his life. He sighed as he listened as Mello’s voice reverberated through his chest. “He smells, like sweat, candy, and detergent” Near thought, the corners of his mouth twitching. He wrapped his arms around Mello’s waist. “Mello” Near quietly sighed. He placed his hands on the blonde’s chest. “I wish I could be yours” he whispered.

Before Near’s mind registered anything, he found himself pinned to the mattress. By none other than Mello himself. Near silently admired the blonde locks hanging down, framing that face in an oddly handsome way. Then Mello sort of collapsed on Near, not putting his full weight on the boy, like he didn’t want to crush him. “Oh my god, thank you” Mello’s voice seemed to crack with, joy? “Mello?” Near pretended to act confused. “Near, I really like you, I mean really” Mello squeezed tighter “ And from what you said, I think you like me too!” now he was acting a bit giddy. “God you are so bipolar! One moment, telling me not to get comfortable, now squeezing my internal organs out” Near pressed a pillow into Mello’s face. Instinctively Mello leaned back to find himself straddling Near’s hips. “ Near? “ he asked. “no, I don’t want to right now” Near replied stubbornly. “okay” Mello lay down next to the boy.

“I just want you to hold me for now” the silver haired boy wrapped his arms around Mello’s neck. This brought them both to eye level. “can I at least give you a kiss?” Mello asked shyly. Near nodded, expecting something on the forehead or cheek. Mello just ever so gently brushed his lips against the boy’s.

“I love you Mello” Near whispered. “I love you too” Mello whispered back.
