To every last member of the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fandom on the Internet, on websites whether Equestria Daily, MLPforums.com, and all other MLP fan
sites, to all fellow bronies, brony musicians, brony artists, and other bronies:
It is very rare for me to write this kind of message for every fellow brony to see. As you see, the reason (or reasons, for this case) why I wrote this letter are:
1.Gratitude
2.Forgiveness
3.Encouragement
Let's start it off with my gratitude for this fandom, which brings us to my story.
Around March of 2011, I first saw the fandom on KnowYourMeme.com when I was interested in memes back then. I pondered, "How come does a little girls' show
become famous to men also?". But I didn't become a hater, never called anybrony homophobic slurs, in fact, I became interested on the show.
I started looking for answers, but I did not join the fandom. I simply did not know what makes this fandom so attractive. I thought, "I could care less about this
fandom" and just went on my daily life.
But, in the later parts of 2011, the worst crisis overtook my life. I did some stupid things that nearly killed my social life, and nearly became depressed.
It was the worst experience of my life. Sometimes, I even wish that I could have joined this fandom earlier to make myself a better person. It kept going until...
March 2012. There was one thing got me interested in MLP:FiM: "Turnabout Storm" created by NeoArtimus. That fanfic was so well-written it actually resumed my
interest for this show. And I eventually saw why this fandom is so good.
Bloggers like Sethisto.
Artists like JohnJoseco.
Musicians like TheEurobeatBrony.
Famous bronies like Andrew W.K.
What do I have got to lose by joining this fandom? Nothing! So, on July 2012, I decided to join the herd, but never really got to learn how to make friends until May
2013.
And what more can I say? I offer this fandom my gratitude that helped me in socializing (I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.) and changing my attitudes,
especially in real-life situations.
I had become a different person thanks to this fandom, a new life which is better than my old one.
And to the brony who is reading this, I owe a huge debt to you.
And forgiveness for what?
Long story: I once got banned from MLPforums.com for posting NSFW content, in which back then I did not know that was against the rules. (Moderators assume
you've read all of them, I've got no excuse).
Now, the thing that struck me the most was the admin's details for banning me: "I can assume that you have no interest in being a member of this community judging
from your first post."
I was shocked, but I thought I could get away by making a duplicate account, but became a better person. I made more friends, and actually participated in the
forums.
But eventually, I admitted I had a former account (Which is also against the rules) in I got IP banned. (The ends does not justify the means)I tried to appeal to it, but
they said I am no longer allowed to participate in the community forever. (It's all my fault.)
Anybody could say, "Deal with it and move on", but I find it hard. Since I don't even know the members' other accounts outside of the forums, (Skype, deviantArt,
YouTube, etc...) I felt more alone. I could say it's very hard for me to even go to another brony forum without feeling......guilty.
Why did I feel guilty? Because I got myself banned from a brony forum which could be considered as the friendliest forums, a fan site for the show that changed my
life, and all I did is break the rules because of my idiocy. I felt like I wronged all of you. I feel like I am against the whole brony community, and vice versa. I feel like I'm
ungrateful to the people who changed my life...
And I never even watched any episode. (Only very rarely.) How can I even consider myself a "brony"?
All I can ask is, I could start over. Please, I'm not asking to go back on MLPforums.com. If this message ever does reach the forums, all I ask is how can I still chat with
you people via Skype or something. I know this is my own fault in which I am banned, but is it also not allowed to even chat with me via Skype, deviantArt, YouTube
or any other social networking media? (I could give them right here, right now.)
I'm neither angry nor sad. In fact, MLPforums.com, I could say: THANK YOU.
Thank you for making me realize such behavior is unacceptable, and on my short stay, I became a better person now.
And to every last brony that I feel I've offended, please accept my apologies. I might not be a true brony, but please, give me another chance. Please let me repay my
debt against you people. I will do my best to be a better brony, to go deeper into this show, to make more friends, to belong to vast brony networks.
And the last, encouragement. My Facebook brony friend said to me that "this fandom is dying". Let us work together to prove that statement wrong. Even if we are
dying, I believe that if we press on as a brony, this will again give life to the fandom, like the first year of the fandom. I might not have personally seen it, but based
from what I've saw, it was good. But I believe, if we can stick to the fandom, this fandom will be here to stay like Doctor Who, Star Wars, etc.
More power to this fandom. Keep calm and brony on.
