Yes, it's actually pretty good. I don't know how it is compared to the manga though, since I've never read it. The live action movies are AMAZING. Especially the second one. They're wonderfully done. XD Especially the part where the police first meet L in his apartment. Sooo funny!
The soundtrack stinks, I agree. On episode 20, they had a new opening that was totally hard rock/metal. Ugh, I hate it. It's so angsty. XP
