Description "And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. "

Revelation 6:7-8

The pale horse is meant to represent death, and along with it, I included several other symbols of death: bones, Cypress, Deadly Nightshade, and Anemone.

In the verses it describes that death will be caused by famine, wild animals, and war, so I included a dead tree, a lion, and various weapons on the ground. The lion also is meant to represent Daniel. I debated weather to make the lion chewing on something or not. I decided not to, to make it more connected to Daniel, but I still think it counts for the wild beasts mentioned.

The bright area is a star, not the moon. It represents Christ. I made the star really bright, so it would not be mistaken for the moon.

I really like the atmosphere in this piece. The cause of death may not be quiet, but the state of being certainly is.

I really liked how it turned out, except for the horse. Something is really bothering me, but it might have to do with the foreshortening.

This is a really neat series! I appreciate the in-depth notes on the symbolism for each one too.

This one literally gave me goosebumps. It is so well portrayed! The long rows of cypress tress are so eriee. Great job on this atmosphere. I see what you mean that something about the horse anatomy is off, but honestly I don't think it takes away from this piece at all. The rest is so strong that it really masks whatever is wrong with the horse. (I can't put my finger on it either...something with the way the head and neck go together, like it is showing too much of his face--maybe the face needs a bit more foreshortening...? And does his body need to be longer and his butt a tad rounder...? Bah, I wish I could be of more help to you.)

Thanks.

Yeah, I don't know. If I redid the whole horse now I could probably make it look right, or at least better, but just touching up here or there, I'm not really sure what to do. Aw well...
