Description

So I finally caved and hopped on the gemsona bandwagon. Because I wanted to pick a less common gem, one that preferably has a connection of some sort to water, I picked abalone. Abalone is an organic gem, in the same family as gems like pearls, amber, or jet. It’s very similar to mother of pearl, and the two are sometimes lumped together in categorization, but it’s classified as its own gem enough on official gemstone websites that I felt comfortable considering it a viable gemsona choice.

Emotional Frequency - Was created to be a therapist/motivator of sorts for other gems, particularly soldiers. She has the ability to influence other beings’ emotions psychically, most consistently through verbalization, and especially through singing. This is used most often to calm, soothe, and enliven injured or anxious gems, though it can also be used to make them more aggressive, confrontational, or afraid, depending on the situation.
Making a Splash - Has limited hydrokenesis in addition to her empath abilities. Even though she loves this ability and has been doggedly practicing all her life, her skills are merely mediocre even at the best of times, and will never be remotely as capable or powerful as someone like Lapis Lazuli.
A Place for Everything - Has considerable organizational skills, and helps catalog and manage her colony’s collection of Gem historical and cultural records. Can also focus on many things at once, and can comb through and absorb high amounts of information in a short span of time.
Personality: Abalone can come across as a deeply serious, literal, humorless person sometimes, but that’s only because she takes her work very seriously. In reality, however, she can be very laid-back and silly, and enjoys having fun as much as the next person, but only after work is done. She’s very sincere, sometimes to a fault, and is extremely emotionally transparent. Though she doesn’t need an extreme amount of it, Abalone thrives on interaction with others and becomes rather depressed if deprived of some sort of socialization for too long. She’s also sensitive to others’ needs and wants and is always very eager to please. Abalone prefers life to be organized and as stress-free as possible, and when it isn’t, she begins to become increasingly cynical and anxious. If left to fester for too long, this heightened state of stress and negativity can lead to some remarkable emotional outbursts.

Fusion Preference: Only with friends, though she could probably be persuaded to do so with a stranger in an emergency.
