Compare to [link]Trying out rim lighting. I used a dirty shortcut technique because my attempts at doing it manually haven't been sucessful. Is it any good?

This is actually one of my favourite Mystique fan pieces. Even though she mostly wears white in comics. She has worn black outfits and in X-men Evolution, her outfit was black for most seasons. So it's very refreshing to see her in black and to be honest, I think it suits her really well. Great work with this. I love the outfit and pose. As others have mentioned, the colouring is done brilliantly. Thanks for sharing.

I didn't actually know Mystiques classic colours when I did this. I knew her skin colour from the movies but had never seen her in white. Black/dark is just waht came to mind when I looked at the lines

I really like the rim lighting, but you might want to change the normal lighting in the background and on her face a bit to show the direction the light is coming from. Sharp contrast in shading along side the rim lighting is also something that would be a plus, giving this rim light more dominance and giving the piece that dramatic look. To help with placement of rim lighting, personally, I just think of a spooky person with a flashlight and that lighting effect on the earth at the beginning of Heroes.
Mystique overall looks very sexy in this lighting. On a side note, adding some rim lighting on the skulls could really shine them up since they reflect light stronger than flesh or clothing.
