Description "Anythin' 'appens to this motor and I come over ya 'ouses and stamp on all ya toys got it? Good kids."
- Gene Hunt

If you've no idea what I'm on about, then you've obviously not yet seen "Life on Mars"... which means you're missing out. For some reason Haruhi sometimes reminds me of Gene... just not quite as cool.

Oh, and the quote: [link]

Have fun all.

Definately... I gotta admit I was more thinking of how the suffering Kyon is a little similar to the suffering Sam

Cheers

Yeah, you're right! You know, because of this I had a dream about LoM and Haruhi! It went something like this:

Haruhi: Ha ha! I have pictures of your sexual harassment!
Hunt: Oh, isn't that nice *smack*

I love these two a lot Though I do think Haruhi needs a good smack sometimes, lol!

It was quite funny! I think Gene needs a slap too, but you'd have to be crazy to try it

They look very stubborn and defiant! It's a great piece of work, I really like the composition. And somehow the pastel colours really work, even though the kids' expressions seem to be calling for tougher colours... if that makes any sense at all. Anyway, I really like this piece, brilliant work!

Thanks mate. Yeah, I know what you mean. Funny how hard it can be to put that sort of thing into words though.

I think Annie has too much confidence to be played by Mikuru, that and Chris not only has naivity and lack of confidence but I degree of innocence. Not in Ashes to Ashes though as most of that character gets thrown out the window as he tries to impress Shaz. I reckon Itsuki would make a better Annie. That leaves the question, would Yuki make a good Ray~mondo?

Hai, although its a portmanteau of my real name which I happened to have because my parents happened to come across the aforementioned book when I still looked like that thing from Space Odyssey. Fast-forward 15 years when I got around to the reading the book and I was really quite surprised, I then approached they parents and asked them why the sought to name me after a fictional character. "It could be worse I could have been 'Bug Blatter Beast from Traal'" was the official response. But hey, it's cool and I like it otherwise I would have called my on-line presence Haruhi9857 and Simmsmuffin or something.

Hmm, haven't seen Ashes to Ashes yet. With some luck ABC1 will pull their collective finger out and broadcast it later this year. Hmm, Yuki's a bit hard to fit as she doesn't really suit any of the other characters' characters. She could almost fill the Annie role as well since Kyon seems to trust her more than any of the other characters our of Haruhi. She probably could do Ray~mondo, though it would be a somewhat monotone Ray and Kyon would most likely have to explain the part very carfully to her before hand.

Yeah, considering the options I don't think I'd be complaning about the naming choice in your shoes either. At least you get an interesting (and quite long, at least five novels) backstory to yours, rather than the usual "yeah, I was named for my father/grandfather."

Fenchurch-St In reply to wraith11 [2008-05-06 20:30:28 +0000 UTC]

I won't give any more away but if you were think in terms of relationships of more Ashes to Ashes than Life on Mars. There is definitely a similar dynamic between Haruhi & Kyon and Drake & Hunt. ie. insanity vs. common sense with underlying romantic tension.

As for the naming issue, it could be far worse. The children of Essex are quite frequently named after characters from 'Footballers wives' such as Chardonnay and Chantalle. While they may sound exotic, you can't help but think they were named after fictional sluts and by proxy types of wine... classy!

This is one of those pictures that you sort of go 'meh...' past however it scans subconciously then suddenly later on you have to hunt down to find it to rediscover the greatness of what you glimpsed in the corner of your eye.

I reckon Mikuru would make a great DI Skeldon.

Yeah, she really does seem like a good Chris It's sorta like weighing up between letting her be him or Annie.

Cheers mate.

Oh, I gotta ask this. You're username, that isn't Fenchurch-St as in "Fenchurch Street Station" in refrence to Douglas Adams?

No. Sorry. I haven't. I've currently been hooked on the Sarah Chronicles every Tuesday.

Life on Mars good? Because I've heard nothing about it. Either that or I've been living under a rock.

I think you've been living under a rock mate...
...personally I reckon it's the best show on TV right now

Basic rundown: modern (see "politically correct" ) detective has an accident and wakes up in 1973 as part of the Manchester CID. So it's full of police brutality, corruption and the like. Absolutely hilarious with an awesome soundtrack to boot

The TopGear publication is even more impressive, since TG has quite a bit more humor in it... I have a couple of back issues lying around that I can send over sometime... after the next payday heheheh

OldnSlow In reply to dog283 [2008-02-19 23:02:31 +0000 UTC]

We should be able to get that here.

Mind you, the TV programme is starting to run out of ideas. May be the Germans are tired of the "don't mention the war" syndrome that Top Gear supports, probably stopped sending them free Porches, BM's Etc. for play time.

They should just do more of those cross country races.... always fun

Btw, also got a hold of a rare copy of the 1978 and 1979 British Rally Championships, in the form of some old Ford propaganda material a friend of mine found somewhere. Mostly Escorts in action- but a few priceless shots of the Stratos in action too ... have to make copies and send all over the world

Escorts...............................well set up go like the clappers. We did Targa New Zealand 2000 in a Cosworth Escort 1600. Great time had by all.

Pictures of Stratos' in action are a sure way of prompting Wes to suggest the Elise should be replaced with something far more spectacular and aged.

Oh! This is a video btw! ... makes it 10x more awesome then mere pictures

We're working on a way to copy it out of some aged moldy VHS tape and restore some of the quality.

How hard would it be to get a Stratos there? ... a real one? Theres only ONE in existence here Tough luck!
