Description More practice with humans. I see a lot of mistakes, but I feel like I'm done with this picture now so I'll leave it as it is. I think head shape and lips are the hardest part for me.Β

This makes me so happy to see, since I cannot for the life of me draw humans. Lol.
But I really like how you did the shading, and definition of the cheekbones (like someone else pointed out) - Also the eyes and the shape of them look good.

I'm really trying to improve my humans! They are what I first was trying to draw when I joined DA, because I wanted to do some fanart of books I like. Β Then I found that animals are more enjoyable for me to draw. Β LOL.Β

The expression is great, really! I also love how you did the shading on cheeks and shin, excellent.
I seriously don't see many mistakes Great job!

Thanks! I didn't mean to make him so stern looking, he just kind of turned out that way, lol. It kind of fits with the character (he's from a book) though!Β

Ooo, free book! Β *grabs* this is a great resource! I've heard of Andrew Loomis a bit, but have never read any of his books. I'll enjoy reading this! Β It is amazing--he can do both realistic and cartoony with equal skill.

His eyes are pretty amazing. I like the structure of the cheekbone on the left side. If it helps, try drawing an oval around the face you're drawing and use anchor lines to show you where lips, nose, eyes, and jaw begins. It'll help keep the overall composition symmetrical.Β

Thanks! I am liking drawing eyes now. They are my favorite.Β
Man, I can hardly draw a circle correctly. Β LOL. I'll try the oval thing though, anything that might help! Keeping things symmetrical is probably one of hardest things for me, and not just on humans.Β

He looks pretty good overall . You're doing well with shading and the definition of his cheekbones looks really good.

His lips look good, though (as something I've noticed) characters tend to look more masculine with less lip definition; also, maybe straighten his nose a little, unless it was broken and healed crooked. His left eye (on your right as you look at him) is a little too close to the bridge of his nose.

Thank you--yes, I had trouble with his nose....I wanted there to be more shadow on one side to keep with the light source but I just made it look crooked! And you are right about his left eye, I didn't notice that before! I'll have to be more careful about the placement next time.
