Description
Pronounced, "Watson".Hoatzins are super bizarro prehistoric looking birds from the Amazon jungle. They still have vestigial hooked claws on their wings, which the young birds use to climb back into trees (since they usually perch in bushes above jungle swamps full of predators).
I saw a tree laden with these when I was in Ecuador, and it was amazing/hilarious.
This is my second attempt at watercolors and colored pencils. Still need new colored pencils. haha.

I saw these weird but wonderful birds in Ecuador as well. Here's a photo I took of one of them:
Where in Ecuador did you see them? I saw them on a small island in the Napo river near the town of Tena.

I was near the Tiputini Research Station at the edge of the Yasuni National Park. It wasn't too far from the Rio Napo though (the Tiputini River is a tributary to the Napo).

haha. I totally forgot about that. The memory was lost in a blur of weird smells that I experienced in the Amazon. But, yes, they are pretty stinky.
