Appearance | Dahlia is a lithe she-cat of average size, with slightly curled fur on her cheeks, leg joints, chest and tail that reaches a peak in length. The rest of her fur remains smooth and silky. Her pelt is of a blue-grey colour, lighter greys found at her muzzle, hind and tail. Darker fur covers her ears and lines her eyes while stripes adorn her forehead and hind. A light grey diamond shape also has place her forehead. She possesses striking amber-orange eyes which are her namesake, a dahlia-on-fire flower resembling these. Her ears curl inwards slightly. she has a nick in her right ear and a cross-shaped scar on her torso.

Orange bullets indicate defensive skills, while red bullets indicate an offensive skill.
Blocking Fire | A defensive manoeuvre is used to extinguish oncoming fire attacks.
Pressurised Fire Stream | Fire is concentrated before it is released, allowing it to travel further than normal streams.
Fire Slash | A burst of flame that arcs with movement.
Flame Redirection | A flame can be redirected using a fluid movement to return it to its sender.
Wall of Flames | A wall of concentrated flames that acts as a barrier against oncoming attacks.
Charged Attack | Concentration that can level up the power of an attack.

Potential/Locked Skills | Combustion-bending | Requires 4000 coppers. Currently working towards unlocking this! god damn check back in 5 years time probably
-
Fighting Style | Dahlia is defensive in battle, having found that she can be clumsy in close combat. Thus, she has developed her skills to allow her to block oncoming attacks while attacking from a distance herself. She tends to attack in concentrated bursts of flame, and more often than not will use the manoeuvres she has created defensively to turn them into offensive attacks. She has mastered flowing movements similar to that of waterbenders that allow her to redirect flames easily.

Traits in {} brackets are well-hidden by Dahlia and are very little known to those who are not well acquainted with the she-cat. Positive traits are marked with a +, neutral with a = and negative with a -.
= Quiet & = Reserved | + Hard-working & + Loyal | {- Dishonest & - Deceptive} | = Defensive & = Distant | {- Hot-tempered & - Irrational} | + Creative & + Quick-thinking
-
Quiet & Reserved | "...uh..no." | Dahlia is a feline that tends to keep to her own business, choosing to remain out of matters that are not of her concern. She rarely tends to speak up in group discussions unless she feels that a point needs to be made, instead listening intently instead. The she-cat will rarely show great emotion towards other felines or happenings, retaining a reserved demeanour that all in all, makes her appear to be a pretty serious cat. When developing a close friendship with another cat, she'll tend to speak up a little more and bring out a little more of her humorous and fun side, a contrast to what is normally seen by others.
Hard-working & Loyal | "Of course, what is it you'd like me to do?" | The she-cat prides herself on being diligent, always finding something around the clan that needs to be done. She'll volunteer her help during patrols and is rarely found lounging around the camp with little to do. She finds it difficult to say no to those in need of her assistance and is compassionate towards the elders unlike several others. Her loyalty is first and foremost to her clan, and Dahlia will always choose options that benefit the cats around her. She is unlikely to form friendships with felines in clans other than her own, feeling that befriending them will express disloyalty to FireClan. The she-cat would do anything if it meant that FireClan would gain from her actions, even laying down her own life.
Dishonest & Deceptive | "That wasn't me, I can assure you..are you sure it wasn't one of the apprentices? I saw them looking a little shifty." | One thing Dahlia hates is being scolded for making the wrong decision. In the occasions that mistakes happen leading back to her, she'll try to wriggle her way out of trouble or scorn by twisting the truth. Though she dislikes putting the blame on another cat, she'd much rather be praised than punished by others - and can be very convincing when telling a lie, almost to the point that it is undetectable. However, Dahlia is a little reluctant to lie to the higher-ranking cats in the clan and will instead take responsibility for her actions when questioned by them rather than face a bigger punishment should her lies be found out.
Defensive & Distant | "I'd like to be alone please." | When she isn't working, Dahlia enjoys peace and quiet to clear her mind and relax. The she-cat dislikes being in loud situations and will often distance herself from other felines in order to find somewhere calm to settle down. She hates to be disturbed when like this and can get a little defensive, especially when others disrupt her. Furthermore, Dahlia's often quiet nature makes her feel slightly alienated from other cats as she feels that she lacks a connection with them, and often struggles to make more than small talk. Dahlia is likely to become defensive over other things also, especially towards criticism. She puts a lot of effort into everything she does, and dislikes when others nitpick at her for even the tiniest thing. Often she'll lash back with criticism of her own.
Hot-tempered & Irrational | "Say one more thing and I won't hesitate to turn you into a smoking pile of ash!" | Dahlia, most of the time, is very calm and reserved, with an exceptional amount of self-control. However, every feline has their limits when it comes to tolerance, and when Dahlia loses her temper, she loses it big. She'll lash out with verbal abuse and in extreme circumstances, may even use her bending to express her anger. It is extremely rare to see the she-cat in such a state, but not a sight that is much welcomed. When overcome with rage, Dahlia will often lose all inhibitions and is extremely irrational, with others finding it difficult to calm her down or prevent her from doing what she thinks is right.
Creative & Quick-thinking | "If you bend the fire like this, it makes such a cool pattern in the air, don't you think?" | All negativities aside, Dahlia is a very creative cat. Her quiet nature allows her to observe the world more, and she'll often find little things that spark her interest, like the flow of water and the rough texture of scorched ground. Often she'll try to incorporate things that inspire her into the way she bends, particularly in flowing stances but has little success with it other than redirecting flames. Dahlia is also quick-thinking in most situations - if she sees something that can be improved upon she'll go to work attempting to better things immediately. This is also a valuable asset in battle, as she is able to take opportunities for attack as soon as they're open, or know the best way to defend herself from oncoming attacks.

Other Important Traits
Anxiety over Failure | Dahlia fears nothing more than letting others down, through her own fault or not. She dislikes the disappointed and sombre expressions cats who have been let down carry in their eyes, but even more so she hates the anger that may come with the disappointment and is afraid of others lashing out at her.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder | Being impaled by a spike of ice has scarred Dahlia both physically and mentally - the visions that come with looking at a body of water cause her to panic, frightening her into thinking the ordeal will happen once more. She feels incredibly weak because of her new-found fear, but doesn't feel like she can overcome it. She will only approach water when it is deemed necessary and has restricted herself to hunting near EarthClan instead.

Kithood
Dahlia's parents were young - too young, it seemed, to be bearing kits. Ash and Lily were barely warriors, fooling around together in what seemed to be more lust than love. When finding out that Lily had fallen pregnant, however, both cats knew that they had to grow up and take care of the responsibilities they had burdened themselves with. Ash was a loyal and vigilant mate to the she-cat that was bearing his kits, but the healer expressed concern at Lily's young age. Her body was still growing and changing, not yet fully capable of motherhood - and when she went into labour weeks before her kits were due, things did not span out well. Lily gave birth to a litter of what appeared to be four stillborn kits, before the loss of blood from her young body took her own life too. Ash, who had been waiting patiently outside the hollow for his mate to bear kits was grief stricken to find that she and their kits had passed on. However, when one of the tiny bundles of fur began to breathe and mewl, a small glimmer of relief and hope sparked in the tom's eyes that day - and he vowed to be the best father he could to the surviving kit to honour his mate.
Dahlia was a good-natured little kitten and didn't mind sharing the milk of the queens in the nursery with their own litters - she understood from a young age that this is how things had to be without a mother of her own. She had quite an uneventful kithood for the first few weeks of her life, confined to the nest until she was of an appropriate age to leave. Her father visited as often as possible though, and Dahlia adored him. He would tell her stories of past warriors and the other clans that he had heard as a kit himself, filling her otherwise boring day with fun and excitement. Dahlia never longed for the mother she never knew, her father making up for both parents. When she came of an appropriate age, Ash would take her out around camp, chest bursting with pride as he got to show off his daughter to his clanmates. He even took her out of camp a few times, showing her all FireClan had to offer and answering every question the little she-cat threw at him. The young she-cat looked up to her father with admiration, and learned to be loyal, respectful and well-mannered from the tom. Ash was young, but he was the best father Dahlia could have asked for, and she was to remain close with him for years to come.
However, her father had duties as a warrior, and he became unable to visit for extended periods of time. Dahlia would miss the long walks he would take her around FireClan and the stories he would tell her - and she started to become restless. Soon after the discovery that she had inherited the firebending abilities of her parents, she stopped participating in games and juvenile discussions with the other kits, feeling that it was time to grow up and begin her apprenticeship. She became distant from her once-friends and while she still adored them, she was desperate to show she was mature enough to begin training.
It was another month yet before her name would be called and she would be assigned her mentor, ready to begin her training as a firebender.
Summary:
Lily, a very young warrior falls pregnant with Ash's kits.
Dahlia is the only surviving kit of a premature litter, her mother dying while giving birth due to complications and her young age.
Ash steps up to take care of her as much as possible, and he and Dahlia forge a close bond.
Dahlia grows into a respectful and well-mannered young kit.
Her father visits less due to warrior duties while Dahlia discovers she can firebend - she becomes distant from the other kits, eager to start her apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship
Dahlia was assigned to a tom-cat named Cinder, a large and serious black tom that had a very full-on, perfectionist approach to training. Almost every day the she-cat was taken out on intensive trips to teach her skills and refine her current ones, often for hours on end. His training methods were intense, but the lessons he taught her were valuable. He was very forgiving when the two found Dahlia's close combat was clumsy, and instead helped her to better defensive manoeuvres and attacks from a distance. There was still many times that Dahlia's long fur almost caught fire, but Cinder was patient and urged her on when she needed encouragement.
The young she-cat was exhausted at the end of every lesson, and found herself having little time to mingle with clanmates, instead using the free time she had to practice, eat and sleep. However, every hour of training was worth it to the young she-cat when she saw the pride her father held in his eyes whenever he watched her train, and so she continued on, working hard to perfect her technique.
Several months of training passed until Dahlia reached the age at which she would become a warrior - she felt as if she had trained enough, yet in the back of her mind she still believed there was a something she was missing . Occasionally she'd be racked with pounding headaches when firebending, as if there was something locked up inside her that she couldn't quite release, and often she would find herself frustrated. Her mentor had briefly toyed with the idea that Dahlia could be a lightningbender, the potential locked up insider her the cause of her headaches. However, after a few attempts and frazzled fur, the two found that it wasn't the case. Despite this, Cinder believed she was ready to progress, and presented her forward to become a warrior.
Summary:
Dahlia receives her mentor, a warrior named Cinder.
Dahlia trains intensely with her mentor, bettering her skills to suit her fighting style.
The she-cat does her best to make her father proud, always working hard.
Completes her training, but feels as if something is missing and has occasional headaches.

Adulthood
Becoming an adult was an exciting step forwards in Dahlia's life. She received full independence to do whatever she wished when not on patrols or hunts, and she relished in the freedom. The she-cat took her responsibilities to her clan extremely seriously, and grew into a valued warrior. She showed remarkable constraint and control when it came to bending, but the first battle she found herself in sought to change that and show a side of the feline that she herself didn't know existed.
A dispute at the border between EarthClan and FireClan had grown heated, and a battle between the patrols had broken out. Dahlia and her father who had been hunting nearby heard the yowls and hisses signifying the hostility, and Ash urgently suggested that they help their clanmates. The she-cat was reluctant, having never been in a fight before, but she understood that it was her duty to her clan to help those in need - and so when her father bounded towards the commotion, she followed without hesitation.
The she-cat did remarkably well for a while - she was able to keep the earthbenders that had engaged with her at bay with her flames and only took a few direct hits from airborne rocks sent her way. Dahlia's attention was soon diverted however, when her father let out a loud yowl of defiance as an EarthClan cat entombed his paws in rock, rendering him unable to move. The she-cat immediately ran towards her father's captor, flames bursting from her paws as she launched herself in the air and brought a pressurised stream of fire towards the earthbender. Caught completely off guard, the earthbender only had a second to react as the flames licked his pelt, catching him ablaze for a few seconds and causing him to yowl in agony.
Dahlia was still not content with this. She launched flame after flame at the earthbender, her shackles raised as she hissed furiously. The earthbending feline did his best to fight back, but he soon realised that he couldn't win this fight when in searing pain from his burns and pleaded for her to stop. The she-cat refused, continuing to attack even after her opponent had all but given up. It took two cats from her own clan to pin the she-cat to the ground and calm her down until she had come to her senses. The fight had all but ceased after Dahlia's actions, and the leader of the FireClan patrol ordered the earthbending felines to return home and tend to their wounded. Once they had dispersed, Dahlia was allowed up from the ground and hung her head in shame when the older felines began to scold her actions. She had shown complete disobedience and had almost killed the other cat - a cowardly action when killing was stated by law to be a last resort. For the first time she saw disappointment in her clanmate's eyes, and she was determined that she wouldn't have to feel this way again.
-
Dahlia had an uneventful adulthood after that day - of course, she had to answer for the repercussions of her actions, involving doing jobs that other cats were reluctant to, such as checking elders for ticks and cleaning nests. She knew that she deserved it, and so did her duties without complaining or hesitation. She did her best not to get involved in any disputes, and distanced herself from others in order to do so - afraid that she'd lash out again. For the next few years the she-cat would find herself rather alone, with very little friends in the clan that she felt she could turn to.
Until she ran into Azurite one day at the hot springs. An odd kind of friendship was formed that day as the two shared their feelings despite being only acquaintances, and the she-cat found herself wanting to see more and more of the Blue Dragon, the beginnings of an attraction imbedding itself in her heart. Her wish was granted, and soon the two felines were finding themselves together more and more often - however, not all of this was in the happiest of situations. A border skirmish with a lavabender clearly wasn't an ideal excursion - but this battle was nothing compared to what the two were to face together.
FireClan declared war; and soon Dahlia found herself in two major battles - one against EarthClan where she left fairly unscathed, and another against WaterClan. The latter found Azurite and Dahlia fighting against WaterClan's esteemed chief Cryptide, the two firebenders cornering him away from the battle. Dahlia was confident in the two's ability, and despite the light rain managed to land a few hits on Cryptide, giving him nasty scars across his left eye and earning Azurite's approval. Her confidence was short-lived however, when Cryptide sent sharp shards of ice flying towards the she-cats in defence. Having reared up on her hind legs in the midst of delivering a flaming attack in an attempt to stop Cryptide's bloodbending of Azurite, Dahlia was completely caught off-guard when a shard impaled her chest. Collapsing on the ground and believing she was close to death, Dahlia went into shock and lost consciousness. Her last vision before succumbing to darkness was the sight of Cryptide standing over her - a sight that, while harmless - led her to fear waterbending.
She awoke in the medicine cat's den a few days later, weak and in pain. It took weeks for her to recover - and she was incredibly lucky that Cryptide had used healing water on her otherwise fatal wound in time. The she-cat could barely bring herself to eat at times, ashamed of the shell that she had once become. She never spoke to Azurite again after what had happened to them both, and failed to train her apprentice Scorpion - watching as he was assigned another mentor. The she-cat works like clockwork now - waking up, hunting, patrolling and sleeping - hoping that one day she'll find the cat that she used to be.

October | Searching For Starfall
Scanning the area, the little she-cat squinted slightly. The mist that came from the sea in the morning was yet to clear - and intertwined with the smoke from the factories, they were lucky that they could see at all. The fact that the night was falling quickly phased October, and she knew that the pair had to act quickly. Flicking her tail in a gesture to follow, the she-cat squeezed herself behind some crates that lay close to the wall of a warehouse, out of sight of the humans. She had several encounters with humans in the past - it was unavoidable as a gang cat, but frowned upon. She had seen a few gang cats become too friendly with the two-legged monstrosities, which more or less ended in them receiving a collar around their neck to crown them what was dubbed as a 'pet'. It was disgusting, it was unnatural and it was pitiful. In the past, humans would often try to touch the she-cat - but once receiving the disfiguring facial scar, they flinched away from her like the plague or attempted to shoo her away violently - and now, she found it safer to stay as far away as possible.
"I'm one hundred percent sure that the cat's in that warehouse next to those stalls - I can definitely smell them," she murmured, biting her tongue immediately afterwards - the words were a lie that she couldn't bring herself to prevent. The scent trail had all but been masked by the overwhelming stench of fish, becoming practically non-existent. The heart beat faster against her front leg, and she growled slightly at the pulse. She had grown used to this occurrence, but that did not mean it wasn't bothersome - October lived in constant fear that one day, some cat would notice. The heart was a hinderance to the she-cat's life, a punishment for her past lies. She despised the thing, yet couldn't be apart from it - lest her lies be found out.
Glancing back at the fluffy Siberian, she gestured towards the humans at the stalls. "We go as soon as they're not looking, alright?"
