How do you mix color like this? Any tutorials?

This didn't have much color for most of the progression. Β I wanted to keep it a simple mix of sea greens and rusty reds. Between those there are lots of grays, which look blue next to the warmer reds.

My advice would be two focus on only 2-3 colors at first. Β When you need variations, try to use gray mixtures of those colors.

Good to hear! This is one image I didn't feel very confident about, as I sorta just let myself splurge on the composition and environment without much direction. Β I've updated this file 4 times already with adjustments, but I do think I've learned a thing or two from it. I am pretty happy with the colors though. My favorite aspect is how the gray-green scales play against the warmer reds.Β

The creature itself is stunning. Β  Honestly I think it's really good that you just let yourself run with it, because it's really detail rich and engaging to the viewer. Β  I love coming back to stare at it (especially the waves. Β Wow)
