Description Ive been talking about this railway lately, and so I decided to do a sort of tribute drawing. This scene does not exist yet.

A long time from now, in the beautiful Sheepscot valley of Alna Maine lies a little narrow gauge railway, about two and a half miles long. There, work many a dedicated men and women to preserve and restore over one hundred year old narrow gauge railway equipment. Here, we see #10, a currently operable steam locomotive steaming up for the day. In the backround we see the currently inoperable 1894 forney #9 all steamed up and ready for shunting activites.

#9 today is being restored, and there has been talk; that is, very light talk - of making a small engine shed once #9 is complete. It would probably be constructed of wood, but since I volunteer there I do have a say in what it is constructed out of

I bet so by how everything looks up there! but I did notice those trains run awfully fast for there size and for the track condition. But what person doesnt like to open the Throttle and watch the train rock as they race over the tracks am I right.

hmmm they dont go THAT fast, but they definately dont roll at a snails pace thats for sure. Back when the railroad was a corporate entity they did however go WAY to fast for the track to handle, often ending with the engine, train, and crew in a swampy ditch somewhere along the line with the engine, usually No.4 or 6 completely rolled over on her side.Ā

But yes, you are right, there is nothing quite like having the throttle wide open, full steam ahead. Dont be afraid to push the envelope, but dont do something heinously stupid either!

No that's not. But its a very nice railroad. They have 2 consolidation with 57 inch inch drivers. There engines are number 75 of the GWR and 618 of the Union Pacific and a small 0-6-0 tender switcher (gutless literally gutless it has no flues or pipes in the boiler) but nember 618 and 75 are under maintance right now 75 being in a major over haul and 618 in a boiler inspection.

A little stone engine shed would be pretty cool there. ^^

Great illustration-- really great. I like the little layer of brick in the walls...

thank you. have you ever been to the WW&F?

I was chatting with the master mechanic jay, and he told me that it would be cool if they could install a turntable or something. This pic was conceived along those lines.
