I love this game. There's a few problems, but it doesn't take away from the great experience you get otherwise. If this game ever gets remade, I'd be thrilled.
One thing I'd love to see in the remake would be a little more variety in the characters. Each of the trio has special 'traversal abilities', as described in the picture, but I kind of wish that was expanded upon or reflected in game.
An easy way to do this would be allow only one person to use certain weapons; following the descriptions above, only Juno can use the Tri-Rocket Launcher and Cluster Grenades, only Vela can use the Sniper Rifle and Shuriken, and only Lupus can use the Plasma Shotgun and Homing Rockets. Juno's armor is designed to take the heat, literally, and that could be reflected by him being the demolitions expert. Vela, able to swim and immunity to toxic environments, is perfect at infiltration, so she's the stealth expert. Lupus, heavily augmented with cybernetic enhancements, is tougher and more durable than the others, so can take more damage and is outfitted with weapons that hit heavier and are more sophisticated, a perfect assault unit.
Yes, it's fun that everyone can use every weapon, but there's little incentive to use most of them because why when having everyone spam the Tri-Rocket Launcher takes enemies out fastest. This makes each person not just slightly different to play, but allows new planets to be added that only that person can go, instead of just certain areas within a zone.
This could also expand into unique abilities that come with the armor upgrade besides increased defense and a jetpack. For example, Juno's armor absorbs heat from the environment and explosions, which he can then vent, burning away everyone around him in a heatwave. Vela's armor absorbs water and moisture from the air, which she can use to create a tidal wave around her, allowing her to speed through areas while trapping enemies she hits or passes in globes of water until they drown (think Aqua Jet from Pokemon). Lupus's armor turns him into a literal hover-tank, so why not give him a battery that slowly charges that, once it reaches maximum charge, allows him to hover in the air while he fires a laser cannon, dealing heavy damage each second the beam is on an enemy, allowing the player to sweep it across groups or focus on large units to take them out. Unique, fitting, and helpful, but not necessary to get past any point in the game, so players won't rely on it as a crutch.
Sadly, I know a remake will never happen (companies won't spend money on things they can't make major profits on), but at least I can still enjoy the original and dream.

Great pic, I wish Rare would bring back awesome franchises like this instead of another online multiplayer game.

I used to think they were supposed to be younger teenagers, but after some of the "fan art" I've seen of Vela, I'm not so sure anymore.
