That's beautiful. I just started using Corel Painter a day ago. I'm teaching myself to paint. This is so much fun!

At this point I've switched to Photoshop for basically all of my painting, largely because Painter's response time (for canvases the scale I wanted to work at, basically anything above 2000x2000px) was too painfully slow for painting to be practicable.

I've heard really good things about Paint Tool SAI, also, but it seems unnecessary post-Photoshop.

Nice work, 'karooble'. You're looking very bright-eyed, good expression there and a nice 'classic' pose. I think you have maybe been a little nervous with your tone though, perhaps a little darker beneath the hair to lift it from the face, and a dark accent on the hands beneath the thumb?

Thank you! That's a wonderful suggestion. I painted this in Painter quite a long time ago, and I've switched to Photoshop for painting since -- I find that I'm bolder when I paint in Photoshop, which is definitely a good thing.
