The colour is so rich and vivid. I see the new camera is just the toy for you.

I agree!!! It's the camera!!!! You're so right about the new camera being just the toy for me!!!!!!!
I missed my reflex camera, but last summer I wanted a digital one and bought the mini Canon IXUS 50.
I will still use it (its always in my handbag). But for nicer pictures I will take my new digital reflex camera with me!!!! Have to buy a macro lens. Because with the new camera I cannot get into the hearts of flowers, and thats just what I want! So I have to keep using the IXUS + magnifying glass for that purpose!!!

That's why I didn't opt for SRL camera myself - there is always something new to buy, a lens or a filter, and money are just flying away. But I agree, if you want to take macro shots you would need macro lens. I hope you will get one soon. Your flower shots are always special.

I love reflex camera's, had them from the age of 25. This time I was 'lucky' I got the money to buy the 30D and still have some money for another lens!!!
Thanks for your sweet words!

I had them from the age of 5 or 7 - there wasn't anything else on the market at that time - and was surprised after landing in US that they are way to expensive for me. So I went the easy way and got myself point-and-shoot one and before you know it I was too lazy and comfortable to go back to full manual. So when I was ready for digital I went for regular one, without all those frills of SRL. If I only had time and patience to learn how to take better pictures.

You are welcome.

You had your own camera when you were a kid of about 6 years old?! Wow!

My father was good enough to teach me on his camera even before I started school. He was always taking pictures, everywhere we went, and developing his own films (B&W at that time) and making prints. And I was always trying to *help* him.
I was *borrowing* his camera constantly after I caught the bug so he got the cheapest one available for me before I turned 7 - I remember taking pictures on my first day of school. I'm not really sure it was SRL camera but I think there wasn't any other kind in the '60s. I was dreaming of having Praktica when I was in High School but had to be content with Zenith. That was in '70s.

So you really started taking pictures at a very young age!!!!!
I don't know about the SRL. In 1964 I bought my first camera, the Agfa Silette L, but that wasn't a SRL.
I got my first SRL in 1976 (Fuji).
But a very enthousiastic photograper like your father could have had an SRL!
Do you still have the camera's and the photo's?

So I Googled the name of my first camera and see what I got - [link] . Now I know it's *rangefinder*. Then I got into more *serious* stuff in High School and this is what I had - [link] - or almost. The year was 1971 or 1972. As you can see here - [link] - the HS camera was a primitive SRL. I think my father had this - [link] - but he switched later to this - [link] - and then I started dreaming of having this - [link] .

Sorry for the excess of links but I was so excited to find pictures of my old stuff.

Don't be sorry about the excess of links!! I loved to look at them!!!! Great you found them!!!! My 2 camera's of the 60's and 70's almost looked the same!!!!
Now I'm going to google my camera's too!!!! Thanks for finding all the camera's to show me!!

I found yours on the same site - they have the biggest camera info I ever saw. I was surprised.

I'm glad you enjoyed them. Sometimes going back to memories is like discovering something anew. I have a bunch of pictures from my *early* years but never enough. Moving from one continent to another is usually space restrictive so most of my *stuff* was left behind. My brother sent me some of it later but still, it's only small part.

I was surprised too! I had never heard of the site before!
I love to go back to memories!!! And pictures are helping alot!!!
Cannot send your brother the rest of the pictures to you!!! They are much more special to you since you live abroad!!! Or don't they know where to find them???

My brother sent me what he had access to. Unfortunately when we were moving out of the country most of our stuff landed for *safekeeping* with my husband's family. Lets just say that only some of it turned out to be *safe*. Attic is not always the best place for books and pictures.

It's a Canon EOS 30D!! Great camera! Still have to learn alot about it! But I love the quality. Next step will be a macro lens! With my older camera I can make close-ups of the hearts of flowers (when I use my magnifying glas). With this new camera I bought a macro filter (about Euro 20). For now it's good enough, but I would love to be able to take real macro shots with my new camera too!!

nice, well a whole new world opening used to carry a pentax spotmatic with all the lens once, lol in the days of film, but never been absolutely sure if I want to go back to it, suppose heart of heart yes, but the panasonic I got, is every thing but!! and I have still already bought a converter for it, so maybe next year the year after

I used to have a analog reflex, a Canon too. Bought myself the mini camera of Canon (the one I took all my digital photo's with since I started here in August last year). And now this new Canon. Quite heavy to take with me (700 gr). But I'm getting used to it now. But I still will always have my mini Canon IXUS with me in my handbag, just in case...............
Will only take my EOS 30D with me when I know I want to take some pictures.

I used to watch TV, but I really prefer to read or puzzle. And then I got my own computer, and I really love to surf all over the world!!! Always want to know alot about other country's, other people, art, museums etc. So when my daughter told me about dA I joined it. In november 2004. But forgot all about it until I bought my digital camera in August!!! Then I started to add pictures to my gallery. And I really like to talk to all the people all over the world! And you and everyone else really help me with taking better photo's.

Daxserv In reply to webworm [2006-07-02 10:58:09 +0000 UTC]

POTTY used in context of having to much to do or going on around you, simlar to SILLY, STUPID, NUTS, all would be said to be slang as there original meaning is totally remote from there use.
