Haha, that's hilarious! Also means I'm doing my job right. Nox is often mistaken for a boy - she's very androgynous, and she's never bothered by this. She's kind of my reaction against all these irritating female characters in the media who start off being "ugly ducklings" then slap on a bit of make up and a slinky dress, and become "beautiful". I really hate that trope, so Nox is kind of my mini form of resistance - that socially deemed attractiveness doesn't and shouldn't be synonymous with what we imagine to be a strong woman.

I like that idea. As a slash fangirl, I automatically assumed it was a dude based on androgyny [my bad ><] and squee'd because this is the first time I saw an OC so popular with an amazing character [like Fred] put together...and both were boys. But, Nox is indeed a girl as I now realize, and while I've never been a fan of OC's, I do say that you've done an amazing job. I'm definitely believing this <33.

Thank you so much! Haha yeah, Nox is definitely a product of my gender and sexuality studies in anthropology. She allows me to take my frustration out on certain factions of fandom that I find are depressingly full of negative gay, straight, female etc. stereotypes. I mean heck, you should hear me rant about slash tropes. Drives me NUTS how homosexuality is portrayed in fandom.

You're in anthropology?~ Brilliant! I'm going into psychology...perhaps you can teach me a thing or two, I find anthropology to be deathly fascinating and it would enhance my knowledge combined with Psychology~.

Of course! Let me know which aspects of psychology you're interested in and I'll see what I can dig up in anthropology. ^_^ I'm in my final semester of my last year - really scary. Are you just starting uni?

I guess 'cause homosexuality is kind of a huge deal to me (I'm straight, but about half my mates are gay/lesbian/bi, so I get involved in a lot of gay rights stuff) and so some of the ways in which homosexuality is portrayed in fandom really bothers me. For example, the overabundance of seme x uke, as if that's the norm. I had a big journal rant about that here [link]

Yes, I am. Associate's degree is underway starting in September.~ I want to get clinical hours under my belt and become a sex therapist, so gender identities and what-not are my best bets.~

Ah. ouo I was quite like that, but then I switched to Harry Potter and reality sort of got angry with me and hit me. ouo I'm still a bit of a cliche' person about it, but I'm more calm about the idea then, say, three years ago [I was crazier back in the day ouo]
