5 years ago on this day, I made my deviantART account.

And on my birthday in 2012, I posted my first submission:

The actual date of my dA Anniversary doesn't mean much to me, because I didn't post anything until my birthday in 2012 (the same day as Kirby's 20th anniversary), but it's still pretty amazing to me that I've been on this site for five years already.

I made a lot of happy memories here, and met a lot of interesting people with similar interests. I started posting art here because I wanted a place and a community to share my ideas, and to tell stories with the art I draw. I remind myself (and still try to) that I'm not looking for fame or prestige; or to feed an ego with some silly drawings. All I need is a community that appreciates my art and looks for the stories I try to tell through it.

I felt it fitting to redraw my very first submission, which, aside from the anatomy issues and the style, I'm still somewhat proud of. It was essentially my own birthday gift (and one for Kirby as well), and still means a lot to me.

Here's to many more years of art!
