Okay, I just know that I'm going to get jumped for this. I just know. *puts on hard hat*

Long rant ahead. I think.

I. Hate. Evil. ...Well, mostly evil counterparts of a good guy that should not exist. Yeah, it makes for good plot bunnies, but it's not necessary for the most part. And people just have a fascination with dark counterparts and such and such. I'm looking at you Dark Link, who is just a shadow with no personality other than having to be evil. You too Dark Pit. You're not even real, just a color scheme. ([Edit] Fucking A. Damn you Uprising...)

I might be thinking those people who are into dark/goth themed things, no offense to all you out there but I'm just a sunshines and flowers person.

What happened to the day where the bad guy is hated for all the bad deeds that he/she has done? Now a days, bad guys are deemed "bad-ass" despite having either raped people or killed innocent folks or something or others. ...Is it because the bad guy is a bishie? Or, boo hoo, he has a tragic past. And now we can allow him to have revenge by hurting other people. And then, CHAIN BAD GUY IN THE MAKING. Blah blah blah.

Yeah, I know, we don't see things in blacks and whites anymore, but still. Yes, I can differentiate between a cool bad guy and a stupid bad guy. Generic bad guy, "Imma take over the world, enslave it, destroy it, destory a certain person, destroy a certain group of people, imma hurt people because they hurt me." Those kinds of bad guys suck. And no, having a pretty face doesn't help you. (Not in my book anyway. That might just make me dislike you more.)

/endrant

tl;dr. I don't like bad guys. =/

Argue with me if you want, but I'm not going to change my opinions. It might sting when you have a better come back, so, if you wanna try to peg me down a few notches, go ahead. But sound intelligent or else I'll laugh.

I like villains that actually accept death if it's coming right for them, and there's nothing they can do to stop it. Ducard from Batman Begins is a perfect example of this.

I prefer the villain to actually have reason for his actions, like Doctor Doom, having reason to take over the world is because he believes that he can make it a better place and fix all social awareness problems. Amon from Korra has a valid reason too. His reason is that there is extreme racism towards non benders in Republic City. So by removing bending from the world, everyone would be "equal". Magneto has a similar black panther-ish cause for his actions to Amon. Magneto believes that the humans are going to create a holocaust of mutants because he was sent to a concentration camp as a child, so he feared that mutants could be killed, baked, gased, and starved the same way as the Jews. So he then decided to attempt to wipe out humanity and let the mutants be the dominant race. All these that I mentioned are prime examples of villains who actually have reasons to take over the world based on political ideology rather than looks or sad past, which I love.

Yeah, I think that people tend to prefer evil characters to look rebellious, but in truth, whether or not I support a good or bad character is based on how they are portrayed in the story. Sometimes I prefer the hero and sometimes I prefer the villain. It all depends on writing for me.

I have nothing against villains, but I do agree that they tend to be severely overrated. Like Bowser for example. Despite all the trouble he causes, people still treat him like he's all nice and innocent and make Mario look like he's actually the bad guy. It annoys the crap out of me. Now, there are actually some villains that I like such as Kazuya from Tekken and Cooler from DBZ, but I'm mostly a heroes person. Most of my favorite characters are good/heroic characters .

I love the good guys, I'm always rooting for them.

Bowser... Well, I know he's constantly kidnapping Peach and causing trouble for Mario, but I can't exactly say he's a bad-bad guy. (Reminds me of King Dedede, where they're just big derps but help the main character when they need to.) But maybe I'm just biased because I'm a Bowser fan. However, making Mario seem like the bad guy is just a big no-no.

Villians I hate are those that just do evil deeds because it's evil. Like taking over the world for no reason. Nergal in Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken is a stupid bad guy compared to Zephiel in FE: Fuuin no Tsurugi who would liberate the world and return it to the dragons/mamkutes.

Yeah, I'm mostly against villain characters like K. Rool from Donkey Kong Country because of all the bad things he does such as getting DK exiled from Kongo Bongo in the episode "Kong for a Day". But there are some villain characters that I can show sympathy for such as Kazuya from Tekken. Because Kazuya didn't originally start off as a villain and the only reason he's that way is because of Heihachi.

But as I said before, I'm mostly a heroes person so I'm usually going to side with the good guys .

Well, evil tends to bring out more bombastic characters. Take The Joker, for example. Villians just tend to be more fun to watch than heroes. But I agree with your point about evil =/= instant badass.

Also, Dark Pit can't really be called evil, anyway.
