Description

Sword bills are swift, nimble, semi-nomadic hexapods.

Their large impressive bills are what give them their name and serve a multipurpose, from feeding to communication, jousting and protection.

Communication occurs with unique rhythmic clattering done by their large “bill.” This clattering has many purposes and manifestations.

Omnivorous, the sword bill's diet is varied Seeds, fruits and nuts make up a large portion of their diet but small game is also taken. Especially during mating season. A long prehensile tongue aids in its feeding.

The long forearms act both as rudders of sorts, giving them their unique ability to quickly switch directions but also a form of communication and display in males.

Males also have large crests which are used in their mating rituals. While jousting gives males the ability to mate first amongst his competitors it does not mean a female will find him a suitable mate. Males must entice females with elaborate dances and chatter songs.
