Sometimes, I'll take a moment to break my usual uber saturated colorful style and really pull it back.Or in this case, do the complete polar opposite.
Actually, this was more of a series of new brushes I created tonight, and while testing them out, this image started to appear. This was just supposed to be a warm-up exercise to get my hands movin' and my fingers responding proper, but...well...it was getting this really neat vibe going. So I figured I'd go all the way with the theme of the video game Limbo, and ponify that gaming classic.
Because.
Oh, right, and because BroNYcon.
It's not very often I'll upload images that took me less than an hour to create (in this case, not even ten minutes). But I think it'll be cool to also be able to show off a sampling of my more raw freeform painting style where I just start with a blank canvas and work from there.
I also haven't uploaded a canon pony in about a year. It's odd to me that as endearing as the show is, I just never really took a lot of time to create the amount of fanart I was hoping to. Confound this necessity to make money working on other things.

For some reason Limbo goes very well together with ponies. But then again, almost everything goes together with ponies. ^^

Compositionally, the shows are very similar with flat background elements staged in a very storybook layout with little perspective. Suffice to say, the styles of both shows, while completely different in color palette and mood, are almost identical in their layouts.

Limbo seems to be the newest target of art. Light and shadow has alwase been a good topic for many artsy people.

Twilight with brain worms would do well to explain the events of Lesson Zero.
And giant scary-as-hell spiders are canon thanks to the pursuit of Nightmare Night entertainment by our favorite Princess of the Night.
