The SD got 3rd place in the elections a few months back.

Yes, they did, it upset a lot of people, and even now the current government is talking about stepping down if SD goes against their proposed budget.
Is every "not American" this up to date with Swedish politics?

Your going have to blame Pewdiepie and really nice countryside for people's interest in Sweden. Also wat do u mean by "not American"

MrBastoff In reply to SharpySaber [2014-11-12 13:38:21 +0000 UTC]
Ah, the loud, handsome guy who has never said or done anything funny in his life. Though the countryside is indeed pleasant, yes, even if a little too cold most of the year.
I see how that can sound confusing out of context, it was from one of your earlier comments; "I'm Canadian not American, so don't worry".

Alright, So the SD would take over the government if they don't agree with the new budget plan?
π: 0 β©: 1
MrBastoff In reply to SharpySaber [2014-11-12 18:04:37 +0000 UTC]
Not exactly, the ruling party (S) has made very few alliances in parliament thus if SD goes against them, it would be the straw that broke the camels back. That would lead to a re-election, something SD probably wouldn't mind since they expect an equal, or even greater, number of votes than before.

Alot of people in Sweden as I heard it, seem really piss off on how the Country is being run right now. So did you actually took my advice on supporting the SD, or were you just kidding with me?

MrBastoff In reply to SharpySaber [2014-11-13 00:51:49 +0000 UTC]
When are people ever pleased with how the country is being run? Though I would agree that people seem a little more displeased than usual. No, I did not end up voting for SD, though not because I quickly and irrationally branded them as "nothing but a racist party" which seems to be the trendy thing to do right now, but rather because there are others political parties that correspond better with my own views.

SharpySaber In reply to MrBastoff [2014-11-13 02:47:05 +0000 UTC]
I know this sounds stupid, but don't you think it would be better if the Swedish Monarchy was back in power? Plus if the SD we're "racist" they would act like a certain group of white hooded thugs in my so call "democratic country." The reason I like the SD is because they put their interest in the people that farm the land instead of a bunch of elitist scumbags that sit on their arses all day in their luxury apartments while watching their own people get beaten up and rob by gangs because they think it's funny that they sell out their own people on purpose! If they think its racist to protect your own people from scum, then maybe they shouldn't call yourself a Democracy! Sorry about that, this wasn't directed at you I'm just referring to the people that hate others for not thinking the way they do just because they don't want to sell their country out for this Globalization bollocks.

MrBastoff In reply to SharpySaber [2014-11-13 22:04:06 +0000 UTC]
You're right, that does sound at least a little stupid. Regardless of the current situation, I believe a democratically chosen government is the way to go. Unless a benign and uncorruptable dictator was to be appointed, making quick and reasonable decisions for the good of all people; though that is highly theoretical, of course.
I'm not closing my eyes completely, of course there are people with racist beliefs who support SD, but that's not something that they are alone about. Every political party has all sorts of criminals and social misfits supporting them, so that's not a valid argument when trying to show SD as racist. The unfortunate thing about SD is not the party itself, but the effect they've had on Swedish politics. When they gained support a lot of citizens and politicians began to fear being percieved as racists, so they started to form opinions on the exact opposit side of the spectrum from SD, creating a greater polarisation than we had before. There is no room for a middle ground, which makes it harder for parties to compromise and make mutually beneficial decisions.

Even if has suffered a few setbacks, at the end of the day, I am very content with Sweden's politics. Especially when you hear about how some other countries are run. Like the countries in the Middle East where the populations are controlled with religious propaganda and fear or how American politics suffers from corruption and lobbying, where companies and politicians simply pay sums of money to change things in their favor; further extending the already gigantic financial gap. Yeah, the situation over there is understandably frustrating.
