I'm very late getting here to leave a comment. Sorry, been busy with the holidays.

This one is way kewl! I showed it to the guys I work with and we had a fun discussion about customer service. I work in Information Technologies... Your work had all of us smiling. I can't help but think fishy is working very hard and going nowhere. Wait, what career does that fish have? LOL

I still marvel at the detail in your work and your use of light and shadow. You have a good eye and a wild imagination. (that's a great combination).

Again, great work!

This is such an interesting piece that I don't know what to think! I love how you always find images that shouldn't go together and you put them together. I love the many levels of green

vcrimson In reply to tsheva [2006-11-30 09:49:27 +0000 UTC]

thanks tracye!! the cornfield was rather cold and bluish in it's original state, I had to do a lot of layers and adjusting to get those lovely lush greens! and as far as putting things together that shouldn't go together....well i'm just an oddball..it comes naturally

vcrimson In reply to Alphatude [2006-11-29 09:14:12 +0000 UTC]

thank you very much!! I spent many hours on this before I got anywhere at all...and then all of a sudden it all fit together, and I was quite happy with the results, so i'm glad that it has sparked something in you when you looked at it

Alphatude In reply to vcrimson [2006-11-29 17:24:44 +0000 UTC]

Sometimes the elements of a composition struggle to make themselves fit and then past a certain point they just seem to make themselves work and the piece practically makes itself. The lines and colors and textures in this are simply amazing and what really sets this off is the eye ball. Wow! Nice work

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

vcrimson In reply to Alphatude [2006-11-30 09:55:23 +0000 UTC]

I'll tell you a secret! originally the eyeyball wasn't even going to be in the piece, and it was going to be more of a burried deep scenario, but my daughter was watching me work, and she was watching me cut out the leaves that were in front of the fish and she kept saying when are you going to uncover the eye?? and i said that it wasn't going to be uncovered...and she seemed disappointed so i said ok...i'll make sure his eye is sticking out...and when i started working on pulling his out and adjusting it to really get the colour to pop out, i was really glad that i did include the eye!

Alphatude In reply to vcrimson [2006-11-30 18:55:23 +0000 UTC]

OMG you have a daughter who understands the inner workings of art. Her suggestion, at least in my view, is what sets this whole piece apart. I'm so happy that she suggested this and that you were open enough to do it as well. You two make for a great team, it is obvious.

Hehe, this is actually a very good picture AND a clear and well presented idea. I love it! The detail is also amazing but most of all I like the idea and the way u presented it. You can't get a more different perspective tahn a fish out of water, looking through grass.
