oh, school's going ok...just finished my course, but have another starting up in november...so i've got a 1 month hiatus...which is really good, because i need it....i just found out this morning that my cat has lymphoma waiting for the bloodwork to come back so that he can maybe start chemotherapy...i don't know....i have to see how it's going to affect him..i shouldn't even be online right now, i'm in a horrible mood and i can't help but to keep reading people's stories about their cats and lymphoma...not very many of them end well, and it's just making me sick, but i can't stop....i think i should actually go find some mindless games to play to keep me busy...

ohhh, that sucks major but. I totally understand that 'need to know' When Daryl started having seizures I think I learned more about them in the first weeks then his pediatrician knew about them. *S*
Sad thing for you, I'm sorry. is he old? Seems like I know many people with cats who've developed cancer lately.

vcrimson In reply to miskis [2007-10-04 09:01:43 +0000 UTC]

yes...he's 14...i got him when i was pregnant with my daughter....he was supposed to have a needle biopsy yesterday, but the vet surgeon said there wasn't much point...after his bloodwork comes back on friday, they'll schedule him for an X-ray to see how much the cancer has spread...if it hasn't spread at all, perhaps they'll take out his lymph glands, but she thinks it probably has, and she said she wouldn't bother giving him the chemo because it would just be more traumatic for him to have to come into the vet every week and get the injections, and it would be better just to make his last days comfortable...but it sure is hard....

i know quite a few other people right now who have sick cats too....it's a bit strange...it makes me wonder if there hasn't been something more sinister along the way? or just that cats get cancer easily...thanks for the hugs....i bawled all day yesterday, but i think i'm feeling a bit better about it now..there's no point in wasting my tears while he's still alive...i'll save them for when he's gone...(if i can!) and just enjoy the time i have left with him

14 is a good stent for a cat.. we as 'long lived' humans tend to forget that our furry friends at that age have lived long lives, the powers has blessed him with a loving 'mommy' to make sure that he rests peacefully. I've wondered that myself .. the something else, Maybe cats as they get older become more prone to cancer, my old time cat Norman, who is about 12-14 (not sure as he was a stray) who went to live with my oldest and dearest friend 8 years ago due to allergy's on husbands part was just diagnosed about a month ago, she called to tell me and it's very sad. I have yet to tell my elder kids who grew up with him. *procrastinating* the daughter will be hurt....
Give kitty boy scratches from me.

vcrimson In reply to miskis [2007-10-05 08:33:56 +0000 UTC]

yeah, 14 is pretty old for a cat, seeing as they consider them seniors by 7!!! so i suppose he has had quite a good long life...he's certainly lived a pampered and spoiled life, so i don't have any regrets about our time together, and yes, from what i've been reading, i do think that cancer is quite common...especially in older male cats.....sad nonetheless and i'm going to miss him like hell when he goes.....but at least the steroids seem to be making him perky enough to climb on top of the fridge and all the shelves and knock over all my glass and ceramic stuff!!! Sorry to hear about Norman too.....that will be sad for not only you and your family but also for your friend who's had the pleasure of caring for him all those years too...it only seems to be people who have had pets for many years who actually can understand how it feels.....so many people just think that it's crazy or melodramatic to get so upset over a cat or any other pet....but i guess they've just not had the pleasure of having one become part of their lives like that.....

aw..thanks so much!!!! i'm really glad that you like this one! phil had offered to let me use one of his poppy photos when i had commented on how gorgeous they were, and i was dying until my class was finished so that i could actually do something with it...i really wish we had some flower fields around here!! i'd love to take hundreds of flower field photos! of course i'd hate processing them all, but that's life anyways! thanks again

Oh, I do!!! The fish is awesome--he's so shiny and wet-looking...and the poppies...*sigh...* Yeah, I'd love to find some fields of flowers somewhere, and shoot them too...especially a field of poppies!!! (Of course, I'd have girls in the flowers, but the post-processing would still be a pain! )

anyways, life has been good here, busy as always, but good...how've you been??? it's been ages since you've been around neo....life must be keeping you pretty busy too, eh??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Malach In reply to vcrimson [2007-09-25 10:21:23 +0000 UTC]

yeah... been dead busy lately. Always ;]
Haven't felt that much for spending time on online communities and neo started to bore me a little bit. So kinda pulled the plug most places. Still talk with various people from around the net on occassions.. but yeah.. not that much into this community thing as it is now.

What are you busy with for the moment?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

vcrimson In reply to Malach [2007-09-25 13:05:44 +0000 UTC]

yeah, things have been rather quiet at neo lately, and there's not been so much involvement....it's hard trying to rally people up into participating all the time....as for me...i've decided to go back to university to get another degree, one in psychology to go with the art, and then i plan on getting a masters in art therapy....long term goals, but the coursework has been pretty heavy and very time consuming, so i've not even had much time for art at all..and very little time for community stuff..although i have at least been out photographing since i finally bought a dedicated macro lens...although i've not been doing much macro photography with it yet..my class just finished, and so hopefully i'll have some time to mess about with that for a while..

so how's your artwork going? have you been doing much? i do miss seeing your pieces progressing! it's almost like watching film develop in the darkroom!
