This is my tribute to "The Dark Crystal - Age of Resistance".
Deet was the cutest character ever. Her eyes put me under a spell from the very first time I saw them.
She was too pure for the world of Thra - which made me both, fascinated and sad. I wished, that despite the cruelty of that world there would be more space for love.
Thus I decided to add some love myself <3
So here we go: Deet x Rian - the sweetest gelfling couple ever (except for Deet's two gay dads of course! x3 )
I used a dozen of selfmade screenshots from Netflix for reference and made my own thing out of it. I could have sworn, there had been a similar scene from light setting somewhere (as this was always the way I remembered her face to be lit up by sunlight). But jumping thoroughly through all episodes in search for it (would have been much easier to have a screenshot that one can use as 1:1 reference, if it catches what you want), I had to realize, this very particular light setting & perspective + eyes sparkling actually didn't exist. So I saw it as my job to change that

And I need to admit, the 3-finger-hand-anatomy killed me. no idea, how cartoon artists feel comfortable with leaving away one finger on "ordinary humans", when to me even leaving it away on those "alien beings" was extremely difficult.
and drawing that chaotic hair structure of Deet was extreeeemely challenging - pretty difficult to draw, if you ask me :') it took ages to make it look something between "a total mess" and "fluffy", haha :'D

I put much heart and love into catching "that" particular feeling of that tender moment that I envisioned between Deet and Rian

Hugs to you, Deet and Rian, you two definitely need it...

P.S.: To those among you, who do have Neflix, but haven't seen the Dark Crystal yet: move your asses and watch it ;-*
no, really. it's been many years since the last time, a movie/series sucked me into a new world that immensely. Epic worldbuilding, where one can feel the creator's love in every detail, exotic race, cute plant, beautiful landscape ... you feel, that it's a real heart's project and not some mere commercial-gimme-money-bullshit. really, watch it or you've missed one of the rare jewels of the current time <3

P.P.S.: I suck so much, when it comes to colored drawings these days ... Even here, with a dozen of different screenshot-references!, I feel like having done a crappy job in the coloring ... :''D

I hope, that this problem/block passes x'D I don't wanna be stuck in black-white art for the rest of my life lol (while I really enjoy doing black-white stuff, nonetheless, of course)
