Description FULLVIEW this. There are lots of details.

Wow. I think I found a new style for the bodies I really like this one, besides the mane and tail. Obviously it's a technique that needs worked on, but it's a start. I did this for a friend of mine at a site, because I had absolutely no muse or inspiration for my other order yet. I will only make it when I can make it look nice. Oh,the front part of the body is SUPPOSED to be lighter. The light's hitting it. Well, please, PLEASE critique this. I need to know what you guys think. Enjoy looking.

EDIT: lowered highlights on the front part of the body, added some to the back, more lowlights, and some highlights to the background. Better?

I think this is very nice, but since you asked for critique, there are a few things I can point out.

I think the horse looks a little... flat, if you get what I mean. I think if you painted in some highlights and darkened the shadows some it would pop more, and draw more attention to the gorgeous horse. ^^

Also, I like your mane and tail, but the only problem is the tail is far too thin at the base of it. You have to remember, horses have a rather thick tailbone that the hair comes off of, it's not just hair spouting randomly from the rump. And, I suppose this may not apply as much since he's flipping his tail up, but the mane and tail are going in completely opposite directions, and even if he is flipping his tail, the hairs would still be.. er, "tempted", so to speak, to go in the same direction as the mane.

Overall it's a very lovely piece, though. Good job!

My only critique is that the tail is a bit thin at the base, compared to how large and epic it is the rest of the way.

The lighting is so lovely! Its very realistic, its one of those pieces that makes you want to sit back and just admire it. :3

The first thing have to say is I love the color. That and how gigantic the waterfall is behind the horse give this image the 'wow' factor. I love the effect of that waterfall. You see too many cliche waterfall pictures and this is a nice, dramatic change. Though you didn't ask for crit on the image, just your style, I do want to say if you added a few highlights to the water, have a slightly different tone throughout, it may make it more 'real'. The one tone takes away from the image a bit and a few shiny parts could make this image better.

On to what you wanted to be critiqued on. Let's see...I love how the new style looks on the rump, the ribs, andthe upper neck. It gives a really defined area on the smooth bits. But where there are intense shadows/lines like where the front leg comes up, it gets a little blurry. Just a small bit, but maybe define those me with this technique. Along with that, the front leg closest to a viewer is a bit blurred at the hoof. It looks a little strange. It could be water, but I don't see how that's possible.

Just a small thing, there seems to be a smudged/glowy piece around the top of the nostrils? I'm not sure what that is, but I noticed it when I was studying the picture. It could be the top of the nostril, but maybe give it more of a defined edge if so. Darken it a little on that edge so it seems more connected.

I wont comment on the mane and tail, though I love the mane personally.

Otherwise this is a great image. c: It's beautiful and intense. A little more development of this technique and it will rock.

Well, I think that maybe I should say that the front part of the body is more in the light, hence the fact that it's lighter. There's light coming off of him, which is why it's kind of glowing and soft. But maybe I should just redo that and make it normal xD And the lighting was giving me trouble, but I will try and play with it again. Thank you sigath, this helped a lot.

I know that the light is hitting the front part of the body, but maybe a uniform glow would be more appropriate? It just seemed a bit off to me. And no problem c:

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this! And alright, I think I made it a little better?

    Beautiful

You unblurred that hoof and the lower glow does the trick. c:
