Wow. I spent a lot of time on this! I enjoyed every second of it. There are about 70 layers in all. The horse was originally palomino, and i added in the sky and the entire sunset thing. The mane and tail.. oh my goodness, they took forever! But I learned a lot. I thought that the song beyond the sun by shinedown fit this well, so i put on the lyrics. I'm actually quite proud of that, because i usually hate text when I put it on my pictures! Anyways, please enjoy this, but don't take it! If you ask nicely, I will usually take requests, and then you can have one of your own that fits your character.
Critique is ALWAYS welcome. Really, I do not mind harsh constructive criticism, because that is the only way I will learn.

This is beautiful. I would happily give critique if there was something that needed to be improved! But there is nothing. The lighting is fabulous and the mane and tail give me chills... You OBVIOUSLY spent hours on this. and 70 layers? Sheesh... Kudos, darling!

I think it's very beautiful and your effort definitely paid off. The lighting is amazingly detailed, and the mane and tail are just brilliantly painted. I love the soft colors in the atmosphere, and the quote fits perfectly.

I can tell you spent a lot of time on this! From the details in the tail, to the muted colours cast across the image. I love how you have a light source, but have been smart with it; the morning (afternoon?) sun's warm rays reaches only the closest low-lying mountains (just as it does in real life, ftw!) while the horse and foreground is waiting in the morning grey-- but to wait just a moment now... Pure image poetry.
Normally I'm always able to find something to critique on, but this time... maybe the legs are tinted a little brown in relation to the grass? Umph, I'm stumped. Amazing work

Wow, I got the lighting right? That's a relief! I played around with it for forever - about half of the total layers were for the sunrise. I tried having a hightlights on the horse's rump, but it just looked like its butt was glowing. And yes, I had some troubles with the legs; that seems to be my weakness. I always have trouble with blending the legs into the grass!
Anyways, I am happy you are so taken by it! Thank you so much for the critique; I will focus on making the legs blend better from now on.

Yes, you got the lighting right; if the sun's rays had reached the horses rump, it would have also reached those trees in the middle-ground and tinted them pink.
I'm afraid that was all I could critique, and even then it was pretty picky. You have done an admirable job for that type of grass (and for not falling prey to the easiness of the dreaded large soft eraser!) I'm glad you were okay with it and that I could have been of some use xD
