Psyren, pirate of the sea who beckons all men to their death and demise.*hides*
Yes, I put up work.
Yes, I've been incredibly bad about actually doing art.
But be happy because I finally submitted something!
I was bored one night and sketched a new version of my old pirate girl, this time with more attitude. And just better. (i think) Of course the original sketch looked horrible, you will never see it.
Referenced myself for the lighting, which was fun to set up (><
and used a ref for the spray, since before it wasn't that great. At all.Done with painter and photoshop, except now I'm out of photoshop for a while because my computer's bad drive ate it...and now I wait for replacement disc.
I am calling my computer Billy (like the goat) because the drive sounds like a sick goat and it eats everything. Including files.

I was bored, so i check your DA and was absolutely delighted to find that you'd *finally* posted something new!
Your style has become quite blurrish, which is interesting because you dont typically see that alot. I like the previous pirate chick more, mostly because of the hair, face and pants. But anyway.
I only really have 2 issues with this, one is the shoulders and the other is somewhat with the lighting.
Shoulders i feel aren't exactly as defined as they could be, which makes them lose a little bit of perspective ; they look somewhat flat, as though she was facing us. If you were to come back and fix, maybe try to give the shoulder on the left more shape, to distinguish our perspective on it.
Not to mention, shes a pirate chick! Needs some muscles for butt-kickin
I was going to complain about the lighting on her left (our right) shoulder, but i think it's fine. My argument was that her head would be in the way of the direct light-source, putting her left shoulder in shadow, but its broad daylight, so otherr sources of light are present, cancelling out what i'd say.
Last thing, only issue i have with the style (its fine for this pic i think) is that it could be hard to distinctly define some shadows, as this style tends to blur.
But whatever, i know you do alot of other styles, in which you'd likely practice all sorts of things, and this was just for fun or relaxation, so it doesnt really matter. I just couldn't play games and wanted to checkup on ya

Good points. I don't think I'll really fix them on this one, at least not now, but things I will keep in mind on my next pic. (yeah, I have one in the works! aren't you happy?)
I guess the one comment I have on the style is that I suppose it is a bit blurry, but at the same time using lost edges and blur is actually an old masters' technique. It forces the viewer to look at one part of the picture, and that would be whatever is in focus. I learned it from my teacher and I'm starting to try to include it. I'll certainly work on perfecting it, and eventually it'll get better.
