UPDATED: New head! no more silly ROTF Arcee head.I made this from an Iron Man crossovers figure, a modified head from Alternators Prowl, and other toy parts for the weapon.
Also painted him to look more like Hot Rod too.
I'm thinking the theme for this guy is-
Years after handing the matrix back to Optimus Prime, Hot Rod finds himself leading a small band of Autobots again. Having not seen him since he was leader, they call him Rodimus although he has explained that he is no longer the Prime.
After stopping a genocidal Decepticon plan and rejoining the other Autobots, he decides to stick with the name Rodimus and rejoin the ranks as a general to Optimus Prime.
His weapon can attach to the car mode to give him the classic mounted gun and spoiler, although I didn't put the gun on the engine this time. I never liked it there.
The weapon becomes his new axe, rifle, and stores on his back for a more classic Hot Rod look.

Thanks! But man I hate the head on this guy though and the new paints didn't come out great. I'm working on a new head right now. I'll have the improved version up soon!

Very cool. I like the last bot pic next to the classics version. I like how beefy he looks. The head is ok. As much as I love the movie figures, I think a more classics head would fit better. Maybe if you pose him next to other movie figures.

Well see, I don't want him to look movie style at all really. This was just the best head I could find from what I had and I'm hating it more every day. This guy is very close to his head ending up in the garbage and the toy sitting in a box until I can find a new one.

Then I say keep the head on there until you find a better one. I do that sometimes.

I don't dig the movie-fied face, but I don't really dig much movie-fied anything... my personal preference. That doesn't mean that it detracts from the quality of this custom, though. Superb work!

Thanks Alti. I'm not really happy with the head either. If I can figure out an affordable better head option I will switch it and take new pics before he hits Ebay.
Out of my existing fodder the FAB Arcee head with a sculpted mouth was my closet option.
Do you think it just doesn't work or is it just the movie-ish look you dislike?

I'm sorry, I should have clarified. I think it works fine (especially considering Don's new 'direction' with the 'Ongoing' comic) - I personally just don't enjoy anything Bay-related.

Oh yeah I totally get ya on that. Some of the Bay-verse stuff is too out there for me too.
I just hate my lack of sculpting skills so I wasn't sure if it came out stupid.
You ever do a piece of art and after the hours of work you are finally pretty happy with it, only to look back 2 months later and see what could have been improved big time?
That happens to me sometimes so honest opinions, good and bad, can be very helpful.
I'm hoping that Megatron BW head you sent isn't too big for the Megs I'm making.
