With his rarely changing facial expression, he is often misunderstood to be a serious person. However, he's actually not that serious at all. Shirou is a rather clumsy person who often spills the paint, staining a large amount of his clothes. Along with his klutziness, he is known to be extremely honest and never sugar coats his words. He says that it's "unneeded" to pamper people with words when he can say exactly what he thinks. Also because of his straight forward behavior, Shirou feels as though he should just do what others ask him to do such as favors. Shirou is usually very quiet, so most people don't notice this about him. Although he generally doesn't beat around the bush, he becomes very bothered when people talk about his appearance and is insecure about his looks. Due to that, he almost always keeps his hair down when in public and wears large glasses. When he is by himself, Shirou uses an elastic headband to keep his hair out of his way and wears contacts.

History:
Born on February 14th, Shirou was born in a family of three including himself, his mother, and his father.Shirou had been home alone often as child. His parents were both artists; his father a painter and his mother a makeup artist. His father's works were very popular and so he was often at galleries or interviews. His mother worked full time at a store she opened when she was young, and so was rarely at home. This appeared to not affect Shirou much, but it actually led to him being very awkward with the other people his age because he wasn't used to conversing with people in general. During elementary school, he almost never talked to his fellow classmates. Shirou never found a good opportunity to talk to others so he decided to keep his thoughts to himself. At home, he'd be painting with some cheap paints his father left around the house. His artistic talent showed at a young age, but his work was not publicized until his first year in high school when his father featured one of Shirou's work at a gallery he owned. But until then, he'd be silently painting at home and was essentially a hikikomori (what is this in english sobs) and only went outside to buy paints and go to school.
In his second year of middle school, an incident which caused his insecurity to surface occurred. On Valentines, Shirou had been given chocolate from several of his female classmates. At this time, he didn't know it was also Valentine's Day and he thought he had received the chocolates for his birthday. Ignorant, he returned home happily. On that day he hadn't seen his mother and father so he just fixed up dinner by himself and went to bed. In the morning, he saw his mother on her way out the door. Excited for the first time in awhile, he told his mother about the chocolates he got from yesterday. Shirou's mother laughed it off, then told him that it was probably from some stupid girls have him for Valentines. She added that she didn't understand why he'd get such chocolates in the first place, saying that Shirou was as ugly as a pig and that even her makeup couldn't fix his looks. At this time, Shirou's mom was rather cranky for being late so she wasn't thinking about what she was saying. Shirou silently sat at the table, then thought about his mother's words. Suddenly feeling conscious about his appearance, Shirou removed his contacts and headband, then took out his old glasses from his drawers. With his hair down and his large glasses blocking his eyes, his face was mostly covered and he looked like an average unattractive person. Even after this morning, he feels insecure about his looks.
His high school years were a bit different from his previous years for his artwork had been introduced to the public and people began to notice him. Because of this publicity, Shirou was forced to talk with others quite often. Unsure of how to handle this sudden increase of communication, his manner of speaking with other people turned out to be awkward and blunt. Even until his senior year his personality was still straightforward and honest, just not in the best way. After high school, Shirou's father who normally didn't interfere with his son's life decided that Shirou should go to a college in an area with a lot of sociable people. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) City seemed like a great place, with all those nice-seeming bishies so Shirou's father used his connections to get Shirou in a college in ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) City with an art scholarship. Reluctantly he attended the college there.
