Description Vulture (aka Mad Dog) battlemech. Because we are in the Inner Sphere, it's gonna be Vulture from here on in.

Clan salvage is a godsend for mercs doing it tough. And when you really don't want to let go of your mech, what do you do? Customize, thats what. This Vulture has been customized with reinforced joints, reactive armour packages (on the legs) as well as salvaged arms (the chassis is of a later model with the tell-tale chin mounted omni rack, while the arms were taken from an older Vulture version.) This Vulture battlemech is probably armed with ER large and medium pulse lasers in the arms, four ER medium pulse lasers in the omni rack and two LRM10s with extra two tonnes of ammo. Pilot shown for scale comparison.

Drawfag-wise, this took me too long to draw. Almost a whole day. That's shit time for something so blurry, scratchy or just plain messy. Nonetheless, I like it Also, I liked the Vulture arms pre-MW4, but then I also liked the chin omni rack - i've always wanted to see a Vulture with both funky "two finger" arms and omni rack

On a side note, anyone who's completely lost - sorry, Battletech is just more robots. Think of it this way, at least its a change from my terrible bishies

battletech belongs to fasa (or whoever owns it now, its changed hands a bit >__> )

Nice mix of the classic Vulture and the MW4 version.

Oh, and to answer your question, Catalyst Game Labs now owns BattleTech.

The in-universe explanation for the Post-MW4 Vulture makeover is that, when the Ghost Bear clan took control of the Free Rasalhague Republic (renaming it the Ghost Bear Dominion, later the Rasalhague Dominion), they retooled the local factories to build some of their own designs. The new Vulture looks the way it does because it uses Inner-Sphere parts and manufacturing techniques, but remains "functionally identical" in terms of stats.

sauce on this information? I have wondered about the various modernisations of designs and whether they mattered within canon. Its a conflicting feeling to look at old TROs and decide if I should base my drawings on the new designs or the classic TRO drawings...

Oh and thanks for the faves man

nice work on the vulture, it has hax missles, only loses the catapult in amount of carried missles, but atleast the cockpit s higher and further from the front, and it has powerfull self defense capabilities

but then again, Blood Asp is better, with the ability to mount 3 clan ER PPC and 2 clan ER Gauss, and it still have slots for LRM x 5, decent armour, move fast for it's size, too bad its MC 2 only, it pwnz atlas anytime

i'll go for anubis for the light mechs, that thing is stupidly fast than any other mechs in service and has more weapons than raven or any other same weight light mechs

twtmaster In reply to CrescentRaven [2009-01-12 01:40:36 +0000 UTC]

:S can't really compare a heavy to an assault class; the assault classes will always outgun heavies. The only real variable between assault classes is speed and armour (I understand what you mean about the blood asp though)

I was under the impression the Puma was the most BS light mech there was? Haha, well, I suppose the anubis is a good mech all-round. Unfortunately, the MW games i've played don't have either blood asp or anubis (probably in Mechcommander?) so I really have no idea how they hold out when i'm at the helm

theyre from MC, which IMO is better than mw series in general (they're abit outdated compared to MC series)

ah there we go. I remember ages ago my friend lent me his MC1. I liked that and then, like last year, I dled MC2, and I just couldn't stand it, I swear my pilots were idiots, they couldn't follow orders properly @_@ strange :S

you have probs with control

I don't have probs with mine, and pilots were so crack they just gauss headshot anything that comes up on the radar

Nice rendition of a Vulture, guv. I agree, the pre-MW4 version is better (also, gameplay-wise).

Well, I tend to armed mine with...
M-Laser(c) x 2
ER-PPC(c) x 2 (yes, a friggin' PPC)
LRM 10 x 2 (with loads missiles)
Heatsinks (I'm using a PPC, they overheat fast)

I called it: the Sniper Bird

Then again, I'm more of a Mad Kitty pilot XD

twtmaster In reply to blackdove77 [2009-01-11 00:06:01 +0000 UTC]

well having skipped MW3, I can't really say if the MW4 Vulture took a bad turn gameply wise.
Hah, IMO, playing the MW video games (not tabletop), the Vulture only looks good, it's combat ~capabilities~ are very rooted to its fire support role. So I was thinking of what a Vulture needs to be used as a good brawling mech (so thats what the reinforced armour and reactive plates are for.) I also say "probably" with the weapon loadout because I really don't know if a Vulture can carry all that
Nonetheless, thanks for the comment

on a side note, i reckon mad cats are very slightly overpowered.

You should try MW3, it doesn't feel to... uh... Arcadish (lack of better word).

Mad Cats, over-powered? My friend, I lived by the motto of: "Peace Through Superior Firepower" (just to scare the guy from starting a fight).

I did a Mad Cat with loads of heat sinks and.... 4 ER PPCs and 2 M-Pulse Lasers.
That was fun.

torrenting MW3 right now lol...
Yes, PPCs are a staple for me, only if the mech can handle it. Then again, a PPC is too big and heavy, hence, if I have PPCs, I struggle to mount other guns >_<

Speaking of weapons, I've seen a MW4 mekpack screenshot where most of the weapons the mech has are MGs. How fun Said image || [link] ||

I got it way earlier, that game (but dunno whether or not its playable in a widescreen format of 1440x900).

I'd go for Thor chassis if I ever wanted to mount 4(!) ER-PPCs (yes, its possible).
I saw the screenshot, I wonder if the guy ever survived when going against a medium-class and above mech.... O_-

woah...MW3 is drastically different from MW2 and 4. I like the detail, but...I gotta play this more, get used to it... lol, it doesn't support 1440x900, only goes to 1024x876

Told'ya so. It give you some tactical element when you make small pits by shooting the ground, and... it also gives you sniping option for easy kills by shooting the mechs legs. Not as cartoony like MW4 (to me, that is) and not too deep like MW2.

BTW, I like the voice acting during the briefing and debriefing session, makes you feel, that ARE part of the team.

MW3, a classic well deserved.

I'm starting to lose it with MW3. It has bad compatability with windows XP so its prone to crashes (crashes for no apparent reason) Fortunately, the game is a good mix of MW2 and MW4 (LOL thats because its 3.) I'll have to do something about this >_____>

blackdove77 In reply to twtmaster [2009-01-13 11:17:27 +0000 UTC]

Bad compatibility? You sure? I'm using XP Sp2, no problems at all. No crashes of what so ever. And no, I didn't bother of using the compatibility mode, it works just fine.

Four ER-PPC heaven, here I come.
(send me a note of your system configuration)
